I just took my 2018 in for it's 175k oil change. During service, they found my water pump is leaking and I have a radiator hose leaking. Got the quote to fix both (and replace the belt on the pump), and the water pump is right at $870 and the hose is right around $260.

So I have a couple of questions.

    1) is the water pump replacement like a major endeavor, or can I do it in an afternoon?

    2) Toyota commented that the upper radiator hose is tricky because it snakes down, so again, can I do, or is it an whole endeavor?

    3) if I choose to do myself, is there a recommend aftermarket water pump or just snag one from AutoZone?

    1) If you're mechanically inclined you can get it done. It's nothing crazy. There were a few videos on YouTube that I watched.
    2) I'm unsure of this. I seriously doubt it's so difficult that they can justify $260 to replace it.
    3) The water pump is made by AISIN. Just get one of those.

Ironically mine is also a 2018 that needed a water pump. I'm at 51K miles though. Seems a bit premature.

I changed out an oil cooler on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler 3.6L Pentastar, so then this shouldn't be too much worse.

Yeah, they said the hose snakes down into the motor, so it seems they were trying to say most of the cost was labor. But if I'm into the motor doing the water pump, the hose should be easy at the same time.
