Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this site for about 10 years since buying my first sequoia in 2014. My favorite mod I saw at the time was the horizontal tail gate with the spare tire frame.

My wife and I have 5 kids and 1 on the way. When we bought the 2019 with captains seats we thought we'd be good with the 2nd row captain seats. Fast forward 4 years we are due in 1 month.

I've called dozens of yards in the rocky mountain region looking for a bench 2nd row with no luck. I joined copart to buy a salvaged 2019-2022 with a 2nd row bench with no luck. I've called aftermarket manufacturers with no luck. We love our 2019 but it is starting to look like we don't have many options.

We have black cloth captains seats if anyone would like to swap us their 2nd row bench. I'd be happy to pay freight for both.

Otherwise I am considering custom fabricating a seat and track.

Is it possible to use a bench from any 2nd gen or does it have to be in the '19 to '22 range? Has anyone pulled this off?

Maybe buy a Sienna, drive it until the oldest grows up and you have enough seats for the rest in the Sequoia?

Thank you for the suggestion. One thing I failed to mention is that we live at the end of a road that gets about a foot of mud during mud season and we are a one vehicle family. The snow stops in late May and starts again in October. We wouldn't be able to leave the house as a family for weeks at a time :)

That all, a horde of kids including, would call for N+1 vehicles capable of traversing that neighborhood, where N is drivers count in the family.

vtl, thank you for the links! I called and nationwide had a '16 bench seat in leather. Chris wasn't sure if it would fit a '19 and told me to ask you guys ;). And no, I do not live on Fanghorn, it is the next mountain over

I am going to post measurements soon

I think you need the tracks and its cover from that donor.

    I converted my 2012 Platinum to a bench from a 2015.

The floor changes for some model years, and I do not remember which years are the same. Yours may have a different floor than mine.

You will need the seats, headrests, brackets, bracket covers, bolts, and the step plates for the doors. The bench is actually three seats total, a right, center, and left. The right and left bench seats are smaller than the captains seats, so you cannot put a center seat in with the captains. I tried that, complete fail.

You will also need to cut the carpet to match the new brackets, or buy the correct carpet for the bench, which goes all the way to the front. Cutting the carpet isn't a big deal, it is under the seat where no one can see it. Weathertech makes a third row floor mat for a walk through 2nd row, it is kind of "T" shaped, and it is made to be cut down. That mat, cut down, will cover basically all of the carpet holes left from the 2nd row console.

I made a few videos of some of the work to do this a few years ago when there were no videos of this on YouTube, and basically no information anywhere on the swap.

I saw your video and thought you might have a good idea if what I’m thinking is possible.

I am in the market for a 2nd gen Sequoia to tow my car trailer + track car (4,000 lbs total). I want to remove the entire 2nd row and 3rd row from the Sequoia and essentially create an enclosed cargo truck. My plan is to put all of my track equipment, spare wheels/tires, tools, etc in the back and also be able to sleep back there on a flat platform. I’m 6’2” and so I need pretty much 2nd and 3rd row out to be able to fit.

From your experience dealing with the 2nd row removal, would I be able to create a flat platform in the rear of the Sequoia? Or is the 2nd and 3rd row seat anchor points at different elevations?

Ideally, I want the back of my Sequoia to look like this (example picture is of a GX460 with 2nd and 3rd row removed):

Get a Tundra, install a LEER/ARE canopy. Will be cheaper and can't beat 38 gal tank. I have both Gen2.5 DC Tundra w/ 6.5 ft bed and Gen2 Sequoia. Tundra is more versatile. I have a sleeping space in bed and another one in cab. We go drinking/offroading/hunting/doing crazy winter sh*t in the woods with brother in law, who is north of 6 ft. Two adults, camping and recovery gear, tools, guns, booze - all fit well in Tunda. Everyone's farting at night in his own enclosed compartment.

This based solely on tow needs. 24 gal tank in Sequoia would be a huge disappointment for towing. I don't need to pee every 100 miles.

The second and third row of a 2nd gen Sequoia are not level, but I have seen some people build a deck over it and make it flat. I cannot say that I have looked for a kit to level it, but I haven't seen one yet.

There wouldn't be much room back there with multiple tires, there isn't that much space between the wheel wells where the 3rd row goes.
