Im looking and found a few new and used Pro’s at this point. 2019 pro is lacking but not without merit as it checks a lot of boxes for me. Its plain compared to my gm trucks of previous years but it still has my attention for multiple reasons. One I can find them cheaper with medium miles and no crazy a$$ markup! However, the 2020+ have just a few more extra goodies that definitely cant be overlooked. Upgraded head unit, leather steering wheel, heated seats etc etc. not sure on all the differences but for all the owners of both which way would you lean? Can have a low mileage 2019 with 10k mi-30k mi within 46k to 52k. 2020+ have been a bit harder as they are marked up or overpriced for basic upgrades. 56k+ or 5k markup or more! I lean more towards 2019 if just to not deal with dealer crazy greed for the new trucks. Thoughts inputs actually trying to make an educated decision about the purchase.

    2019 all the way.

I personally don't like the climate controlor the push start on the 2020.

The upgraded head unit is still garbage sound quality compared to an aftermarket replacement.

Heated seats sound cool, but just overheat your ass.

The phone charger is cool, but you can do that upgrade on a 2019, I did.

They changed some of the console on the 2020 and some aftermarket stuff doesn't fit right anymore. NSV lightbar etc.

I am also biased having a 2019 myself.

No worries bais is fine I just want to get an idea on whats going on. I personally love heated seats, early morning hunts or early wake up calls for work make the wake up a little easier. My trucks have them and its a plus for me but not a must like most gimicky stuff but I use them often. I also like mirror dimmers mirror defrost window defroster with the morning warm up for my vehicles. Scraping ice sux when you are running late at 4 am. I really just want a truck stock and leave it alone this time. Mods will be simple and not extremely expensive. Simple lift shackle system and keep factory suspension adding front sway bar, and larger tires and done done. If I buy one I am not buying another truck unless I have no other choice etc. so its a big deal for me as I buy and sell vehicles too often and I am over it! Thanks for the input very helpful!

I had a ‘19 Pro and now have a ‘21 (should be the same as a ‘20). I like the push button start and the leather wrapped steering wheel. Satellite radio reception is significantly better. The console charger is useless with an iPhone 12. The seats seem more comfortable to me. Dual zone automatic climate control is nice. You can’t go wrong either way. Trust your gut.

I just bought a 2019 16k miles for 47k. What flytrap said with the heated seats, push start, climate control- none of that stuff tickles my fancy and honestly, not desired as I wanted a rigid somewhat basic pickup truck. Those creature comforts dont justify price difference you will see.

I saw a couple of voodoo blue's for sale around here. That's a great color and would probably lean me towards the 19. You can add the leather steering wheel. I did and it makes a difference. I thought the 19's came with heated seats but you can add those as well in an afternoon.
If you don't care about color then go with the 20 and get the extras.

I had a 2015 Tundra Limited and now have a 2020 TRD Pro. I like the extra little features on the 2020+ and obviously paid to have them, so I can't say I don't think it was worth it. That said, I "only" paid MSRP with no markup and I also got a good deal on my trade. I would not pay a markup just to get a 2020 if there was a lightly used 2019 available for significantly cheaper.

If you’re leaning 19 don’t spend any time in the 20. It’s sounds silly but the push button start and set and forget climate control grow on you quickly.

Heated seats are easy to add, I did mine in my SR5 with leather.

The JBL isn't really an upgrade from what I've read on the forums.
The non-JBL is much easier to upgrade stuff on..

Im on the fence with both for previously stated reasons so this is helpful getting info from owners and what they would do. Then I call a dealer and they are like we can sell it for more so we don’t care for your business thanks though. Lol. I get it its a hot truck, but dang I am not gonna jump on that grenade for a markup and a rude customer service provider. Leaning towards cheaper but if I can get it in the 55k range I would not be angry depending on its upgrades!

Basically the 2019 is built on the SR5 platform, and the 2020+ is built on the Limited platform. I have a 2020, and purposely waited to get it because I like the little creature comforts.

You also get Apple CarPlay and Android auto. I think power passenger seats as well. Not sure on this. Push button and proximity door opening is nice though.

No antenna on the fender and passenger side roof. Went to single shark fin for cleaner look.

    And unique colors of course.

I bought a 17 Cement Pro a few months ago with under 50k mi because I wanted this truck in this color. I looked for 4 months and missed out on a few deals but I knew the right one would come along when it was meant to happen. Mine has even less creature comforts but I love it. I had a 08 ford 5.4 fx4 before that (which i kept with 286k mi) and the 381 hp v8 power, cat back dual exhaust, look, and reliability were an awesome upgrade to me. Also didn't want ford eco boost or gm's cylinders shutting down (whatever its called) for fuel economy or reliability issues.

With all of that said, I would save the 10g and get the 19 because if you are like me, you will want to mod it your own way with tires, step bars, bed cover, remote start, etc., once you get it and that extra saved can do a lot to get better than factory stuff. Just my .02

One thing not mentioned, the '20 (or '21s) come with one or two years more in warranty. The 2019 is going to be getting close to the 3 year window on warranty, where the '21 will have a brand new one. Plus free scheduled maint.

If it was 52 for a 19 and 56 for a 21 it's a no brainer. 4k for more features and 2 years of warranty more? Not 46k vs 56k may be more worth thinking about.

Ok real situation found a 2019 for 48k only factor is it needs about 2-3k in body work. Actually minor damage but I got quotes for it and its gonna take time and money about 2weeks in these times.
Option one buy it at 46k body not fixed I get it fixed after myself easy peasy.
Option2 they fix it I wait and pay a deposit to hold vehicle and they bring it to me and we swap vehicle keys(have a trade)
Still fairly high price with body damage that stays on vehicle records. No issue as its minimal but its body work and paint etc so it can add up. I would rather they fix it but I might get 2k or more off purchase price and just deal with it. I am not buying again anytime soon its gonna be babied and ran till it gives out so no issues. Has 6k mi left on warranty and 1 year on warranty, and then powertrain is half at 30k miles on clock and remaining years.
Popular opinion on options thoughts, is a 2019 worth the work and saving some money idk help me out thanks all!

Personally, I wouldn’t pay that much for one that needs body work. That’s likely to be on the carfax and will hurt trade in or resale value when you want to get rid of it, or just make it a little more difficult to sell. I would look for one with clean carfax or a new one. If the damage and repair won’t show on carfax, then that’s a different story. I don’t know how carfax determines what to show and not show on its reports... others here might know.

48k is too much for a wrecked truck. I know you said body damage, but what else could be damaged underneath that they aren’t telling you?

Fuck that. Just don’t rush and impulse buy. Eventually the right truck will come and you’ll now. Again, I paid 47k 3 weeks ago for a 2019 trd pro with 16k miles. Prestine. 48k and needs body work? Keep lookin bud

2020+ also moves the antenna off the fender to an all in one fin on the roof. Has cleaner lines but some have complained for rooftop items like racks, campers, and tents.

You say you plan on keeping it for a long time. In that case I would get a new one as long as you can afford it. Why take a chance on a used one to save a few K?

Just made that decision after almost closing the deal on 19. Im gonna keep up my research and keep hammering dealers to see if I can get what I want. Or just walk away because I can’t afford to pay crazy Toyota markups.

Depends what color you want really. Small creature comforts is only differences. I recommend voodoo blue myself :p
Keep looking. Prices are high right now. I was offered 50k for mine. At 48k you have a used and wrecked vehicle. For additional 6k you can buy a new 2021. Not sure where you are located but consider looking out of state as well. I got a better deal going to Idaho from Washington. Patience, buy once cry once.

    I like my mast antenna.
It is a couple inches taller than my lifted/leveled truck.
I know if I'm in an underground parking garage, and the ceiling hits the antenna mast, I better get out and look.
Although I try to stay out of that situation altogether, going into downtown Dallas, sometimes it happens..
