I have been eyeing up some 2.5 gen tundras and have a question about the two trims. For the SR5 2020+ tundras with off road package, sr5 upgrade and convenience package you seem to get very close to what the limited offers. The only thing that seems to be missing is heated leather seats and the sunroof. Is there anything else I am really missing?

These fully loaded SR5s in the 10k mileage range seem to be about 48k before taxes and tags. The limited OR in this mileage range seem to be about 52k before taxes and tags. Trying to see if the 4k difference is justified and worth getting the limited.

Get the SR5...if you want leather get Katshinz, sunroof is a waste!

Yea I have been going back and forth with the sunroof. Never had one and seems cool. My only concern is how often you are suppose to clean it out to ensure it doesn’t leak.

Not sure if the SR5 has dual zone air but the limited does. One of the reason (there were multiple) I traded from '18 SR5 to 20 Limited.

Limited gives you a few more comfort options like dual climate control, 20" tire/wheels (unless you get the limited TRD Off Road Package) The limited has a power passenger seat (not sure about the SR5) The limited has more chrome. The SR5 should be rated to tow more too.

It comes down to comfort level for the most part.
My limited has the TRD OR package so it has the 18" wheels.
I wish it didn't have as much chrome which I am slowly swapping out.
The Heated leather seats are nice.
I looked at used but the prices were crazy, I found my limited with the options I wanted about 1.5 hours away for $53700. NEW

Write or type a list of the options and post it and we can help you compare the trucks.

With the 2020 trd off road package for the sr5 does have dual climate controls. That’s why I was thinking the sr5 in 2020+ seems to come with a lot once you add the packages.

I'm wondering what a Limited with the TRD has over the SR5 with TRD now.:(

I have a 2020 SR5 TRD Offroad. Mine has dual climate control, LED headlights, auto-dim rear view mirror and I have a power driver’s seat. Honestly though I am not sure if I have the upgraded SR5 package or not. My 2012 Tacoma and 2017 4Runner had a mix of some of these features but the Tundra is by far the best amount of features.

I think the sr5 package is required for the trd off road so I assume you do. Do you have a 38 gallon tank? How do you like it so far?

No dual zone climate in an sr5 with convenience package. I have an 18 sr5 with the convenience package and its everything I will ever need a few things I just wanted.

I forgot about the passenger power seat on limited. So that is three convenience features lost (sunroof, power passenger seat, and leather heated seats). My only real options I care about are

All the safety features (Toyota sense and the best/rear cross traffic alert)
    Off road package
    Push to start/remote start
    Silver or cement exterior color
    Spray in bed liner
Heated seats (not proposed to aftermarket if I can make look stock)

Oooh, oooh, I went DEEP into this rabbit hole when I was purchasing my 2021. As said above, the only big difference is the leather seats/moonroof. Prior to all of the supply chain issues, this came out to a ~$2000 difference (the limited TRD OR vs SR5 TRD OR was ~$1000 and the moonroof added an additional ~$1000).

Personally, I love how well the moonroof compliments the roll-down rear window, but it was a much easier choice to make as $2000 vs a $4000 price difference.

Yea 2020 seemed to be when they added it to the sr5. So I am only looking at 2020 and 2021 models for now.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't realize the SR5 had an option for the dual zone so I didn't even shop it. Just found the limited on the lot at the time we were ready to pull the trigger and I pulled. I'm cool with it, still consider it the last truck I'm buying.

Yes I have the 38 gallon tank. I love it in all honesty. I feel it’s quality made and everything is holding up real well. Generally speaking, the interior is a step up from my previous two Toyotas (Tacoma TRD Sport/4Runner SR5). It’s the best and most favorite vehicle I have ever owned. My 1st Gen Tacoma’s though are a close 2nd.

I am a simpleton when it comes to vehicles, less is more for me. The only reason why I opted for the Off-road is because it’s the best riding model in stock form IMHO…many will disagree however. The word Sport makes me shutter when thinking of a Toyota…lol.

To be fair, I have heard of that being an issue (drain holes getting clogged). I just set a bi-annual reminder to check them along with some other small maintenance items & they haven't been even partly clogged in the ~1.5 years I've had the truck now.

Rolling with the A/C off, sunroof open, and only the rear-window rolled down is quite a nice way to drive around though. You get all the cooling of an open window without your ears being blown out.

I like the circulation and keeping my privacy, not everyone on the road needs to see me balancing a mason jar and my bong in my lap while trying to take a left at speed and spit in a mud jug.

I love my 2020 SR5 DC 4X4. Needed the 6-1/2’ bed to haul stuff, and didn’t need a lot of back seat space (no kids). I wish it came with the bigger gas tank though. Might add it someday.

Is it pretty easy to clean the drains? Also how is the leather in the limited? Is it softex/fake leather or the real deal like the platinum but without the cross stitching?

Never had to clean them since they've drained fine since purchase. And I personally like the leather - I know some folks think it's too stiff/softex feeling though.

If the moonroof doesn't matter to you, then SR5 is probably the right choice since you can do leather/heat cheaper aftermarket. Though OEM seat warmer buttons do look pretty nice :anonymous:

Me personally, I would never own a vehicle without a sunroof. I've had them on every vehicle I've owned, for years. I absolutely love them. But if the sunroof is not a thing for you, and you don't care about leather, I'd go with the SR5 to save a few.

I went with the Limited, for the second time. It also includes the Navigation system, and the leather wrapped steering wheel I like a lot better than the SR5. It's a thicker wheel and just feels better to me. I am also a big fan of the Limited softek interior. It's easy to keep clean and I've found it to be plenty comfortable for long trips with the amount of adjustments it has. If I'm not mistaken, it may have more adjustments than the SR5 but won't swear to it. Prior to buying my 2021 Limited, I did drive an SR5 and it just doesn't feel the same after having the Limited.

I have a 21 TRD Sport that has dual climate zone and honestly the only thing lacking for me is the moonroof. I've had one on the last 4 vehicles and I am missing it. I've thought about having one installed, some people say it's fine while others say they leak. I've never had a leaky moonroof on any of my vehicles. I'm still undecided if I should or not.
