    Hello,

So I have a 2020 limited 4x4. Needless to say the dealer could not answer my question on the tank size. So not impressed with the dealer. Is there a way to know if it has the larger tank or not. I am asking basically because of the same reason many of asked. I’m wondering when my low fuel will come on. I have 19miles to empty it says and no light.

You’ve got a 38 gallon. SR5 upgrade package and above does. As far as no light...... can’t help you there. Seems like it should come on before 19 to go. Know that even when it gets to 0 miles to empty you’ve got gallons left. Like 6 or more as I recall.

It will come on once your range hits zero. Every truck is different, but when the light comes on and you fill up, it will probably take 30 - 31 gallons. There is quite a large reserve in these trucks. I would not chance it though. Fill up and see how many gallons it takes.

Wow.....not just the dealers fault, although the dealer seems to be a bit lacking. If I was laying down that kind of money I wouldn't have driven that new Tunny off the lot without knowing what I just bought. I'm old school though.....

Ya I’m not the type to chance it. I for one do not want to mess up the fuel pump. It would of been nice if it would of come on already.. This is probably one of the items I can say I’m not a fan of the truck.

Hi, the limited comes standard with the 38 gallons and from what I've read, the light comes on when it gets to a certain reserve level. Because the tank is so large, there is also a large 7-8 gallon reserve, so when the light comes on, the range shows near zero.

That's from my understanding of it from reading another thread. I usually refuel at the last quarter mark (range showing ~100-120miles) and it fills up ~26 gallons.

But you can not just fill it and see how much it takes?

You can look it up on Toyota.com by entering your VIN# and looking at the build list too and then you will know what Toyota thinks you have.

If you bought this new there should also be a window sticker somewhere that tells this story I would think.

I did buy it new but unfortunately it did not state it on the window sticker. I will see if I can pull it via the VIN as you mentioned. This is actually my first Toyota I have ever owned so I’m trying to get use to the subtle differences than American automakers.. thanks..

He has another video also mentioning the 5 gallon reserve. Yota must have tweaked the indicator tracking to turn the light on at 0 miles, knowing there is still reserve in the tank. A real man would keep driving to see how far past E you can go.

2020 Limited and Platinum edition come standard with the 38 gallon fuel tank. It's available as an option for the SR5 trucks.

Depends on where you are. I think the SR5 comes standard with the upgrade package (and thus the larger tank) in Canada.
