OK, I have read on here and several other places about upgrading the wipers to intermittent. The 2021 SR came with some jazz, like radar cruise control, auto-dimming headlights and the headlight up-down trim doo-dad, but not intermittent wipers.

I have seen several threads about having upgraded by replacing the wiper switch/stalk with one that has the intermittent feature, but I tried that and did not have any luck. Was it my fault for trying a third-party wiper switch and not a genuine Toyota part, or is there a relay under the hood that has to be upgraded or installed in additional to the switch to add the feature? Or maybe I'm just unlucky and got a bum switch?

    Thanks!

Get the genuine Toyota part. I did the swap on my '14 Tacoma (same switch) and it worked like a charm.

Thanks. I will probably try that, but I'm still maybe a little skeptical after this experience. Mine is an SR not SR5, so I really wonder if there is a difference. The wiring *appears* to be all there, as every contact in the two connectors has a wire going to it. But if the feature is provided by a relay somewhere under the hood and not by having the logic included in the switch, I may still be out of luck.

    Anyone know?

    Thanks!

My Tacoma was the base (SR) version. It plugged in and worked like a charm. Hope you get it figured out.

Unless Toyota change the wiring on 2020 vs 2021 (not likely), it is plug n play. First mod I done on my 2020 SR using Toyota switch to upgrade.

Thanks. I ordered a used, genuine Toyota switch this time. I'll swap it in and see how it goes!

I received the genuine Toyota part and it works great. Literally 5 minutes, maybe less, to change out. I found a used one online from a salvage parts dealer and I'm all set now.

The actual body of the switch is a little bigger than the stock non-delayed wiper switch I removed. Perhaps that is because it contains the additional delay circuitry (probably a solid-state timed relay). Anyway, beware of third-party parts. I learned my lesson. Even though they claim to fit the vehicle and provide the features, some of them don't really work.

Does anyone have the actual Toyota part number for delay switch?

I also bought it off eBay. Here's the part number that was on the tag for the one I used, and it works perfectly: 629-0667R. That doesn't seem to be the Toyota part number, but if you search for it, you will find the switch I got. Fits over 400 variants of 5 different Toyota vehicles. You should be able to find it on eBay. I got mine from Spaulding Auto Parts (eBay seller spauldingautoparts).

Note of caution - read my experience above: not all the switches that claim to fit will work. I bought a cheaper after-market switch with the delay, and it did not work. The genuine Toyota switch removed from a wreck worked. Telltale sign, at least for me, was the cheap switch only showed symbols on it, no text markings (Mist, Off, Int, Lo, Hi).

I did some more looking, and it looks like this crosses to Toyota part number 8465202610

    Best of luck!

I ordered one from dealership with the last 4 digits of 2710. That what they said fits mine. They told me your part number is for Canadian models. Not sure why they would be different but we will see how much they know.

Lol... Yeah, I think I saw that in the eBay listing. The one I got actually had a tag on it showing the VIN of the vehicle it came out of (2020 Tundra Limited). I can't imagine there is any difference. At any rate, I'm happy with what I got. I wish you the same!

Install was less than 20 minutes. Works great! I get excited over little things! Before and after pics.
