so the factory remote start has been working as should since new. I tried remote starting it yesterday and it would start as normal. Anyone have this happen to them. I try my second remote and nothing. Is it locked or in some sort of valet mode? I did try the lock lock lock and hold sequence and bunch of times because it would not start and i just thought i was to far but i seen the taillights flash

My 21 plat did the exact same thing last week. I checked the codes and it is throwing a U1117 lost communication with the accessory gateway. I found a manual online for installing the remote starter for the highlander and it included re-initializing the remote start, but when I try that techstream says it can't communicate with the module, so thinking about digging into the passenger dash near the glovebox and looking at and reconnecting the connectors for the RES ECU.

Same issue for me on my 20 Platinum. The fob nor the app work for starting it, hell, the app is useless beyond telling me fuel level, doors open and tire pressure, it won't even lock/unlock the truck. Apparently, Toyota is having some issue with its servers or something and its failing to communicate with your trucks DCM and this is the issue. This is the direct line from two dealers up here.

Really interesting... Wonder if everyone is getting that U1117 error code or if it is just me? Regardless great timing as winter is finally here.

Yeah, tell me about it, got back from Palm Springs last weekend and really quite Canadian temps here so a remote start would be much appreciated. I got the, "request could not be completed. Please see dealer".

That’s weird because I don’t have the app. I just always used the key fob and now it stops working.

My error code pops up on the app....wouldn't know on the fob. The headlights flash a sequence when using the fob, but my morse code is a little rusty.

I am only using the key fob as well. The error comes up when you run a diagnostic scan on the odb2 port.

Mine is 21 as well, but I bought mine from a dealer off lease back in May. One thing I notice on the radio nav screen it only says DCM up in the top right where before I thought there was another symbol there as well not sure if that could be related?

Somebody on a Facebook page told me that Toyota offers the remote start for the first 3 years and then they expect you to buy the app to have access to remote start. Makes sense it’s been exactly 3 years for me now. Ughhhhh

Hmm, yeah I removed my truck from the app and the next time I started the truck the second dcm came back on the radio and it said connected. Think I am going to call in to Toyota and have them delete my account and try and recreate it and then reregister my truck.

Mine was a service connect issue. They had me re-add the tundra to the app on my account and then reactivate the 10-year trial. Planning on changing out my hu at trailgridpro at some point though so I imagine when I do it will no longer work.

my 21 stopped working today, dropping off my truck to get a new compustar remote start and security. They said i have options, i can use my factory remote, buy their single, two way, or proximity remotes. I'll stick with the factory remote for now since they said they are using the same brain, and the remotes can be upgraded later on. And the best thing is the remote start has normal take over. Meaning when you grab your handle to unlock and get in, the engine doesn't shut off. Press the brake pedal and put into drive.

Mine stopped working too. I have a 2021 Tundra Limited Crewmax. This is so stupid that toyota would make this a paid feature. I spent $56k on this truck and to have to pay for this feature is just pure asinine

Would you mind sharing the model of this Compustar you mentioned? I saw some on Amazon but they had several models

    On my receipt it reads,
Compustar DC3 Remote Start alarm brain
    Compustar DC3 wiring t-harness kit

I also purchased the compustar Drone XC-LTE front and rear dash cameras.
The Drone dash camera plugs right into the DC3 alarm brain and allows me to control the alarm via phone app and also view and up/download videos.

The remote start no longer shuts down when I grab the door handle to get in. You have 4 mins to put your front in the brakes or the engine will shut down after the door is unlock.

Has anyone been able to solve the issue? Mine also stopped working around early December.

This happened to me as well, '21 SR5 but I found a solution that worked for me, bought it used and it came with a trial of the app remote start etc., once the trial expired it stopped working both in app and with the key fobs. For anyone reading, make sure even if your app trial is expired or if you've cancelled your subscription, that you're still logged into the app. Mine either logged me out when the trial expired or when the app updated on my phone at some point. Once I logged back in (did not sign up, no payments made etc.) after a little while the key fob 3 clicks hold remote start works again. Obviously the remote start from anywhere is a paid feature, but even without paying for the app you should still be able to remote start with the key fob, hope this helps.

Same here! Bought mine used but never had any free trials of anything, it just worked on the fob. When u say it started working a little while after signing into the app are u talking days or weeks? I just signed in and unfortunately it's still not working

I think it took maybe like 15 minutes or so and has worked fine ever since, hopefully it works for others and I'm not just an anomaly!

I had the same issue with mine and this solution worked. I bought mine used about a year ago and had no idea about any subscription or app. Remote start with the key fob worked fine until recently just stopped working. Downloaded the Toyota app on my phone and logged in and subscribed to the connected service trail (free). And now the remote start with the key fob works again..

I tried everything everyone said worked for them. Nothing worked for me! I did end up subscribing for 1 month and everything works now. Waiting to see it it still works after the month runs out

I'm in the process of testing...I went into the app and declined all of the things by going to the person icon top right>account>Data Privacy Portal. This includes the following: Connected Services Master Data Consent, Drive Pulse, Insure Connect, Service Connect Communication, Wi-Fi Connect.
Key-fob remote start stopped working. I've now re-accepted the Connected Services Master Data Consent, which turns on/marks "Accepted" for: Connected Services Master Data Consent, Insure Connect, and Service Connect Communication. Drive Pulse is still marked as Declined. App said it may take 48 hours for everything to re-update. My guess is that at minimum you need to have the Connected Services Master Data Consent accepted, and then everything else can be declined for it to work. Insure connect is the Insurace b.s., service connect is the dealership service department b.s., drive pulse is an "aggregate score based on driving details..."

I did notice that when I went to re-accept the master data consent, it said I had a 10 year trial available, perhaps since I bought the Truck Toyota certified? But again I do not have whatever level of trial allows me to remote start through the app. Looking under the Master Data Consent it says under "Data shared by service", Remote Connect, Safety Connect, and Service Connect, and then under Remote Connect it says Remote start, door unlock/lock which I'm guessing means key fob remote start.

Will report back if/when it works again.

Tested this morning, we're back in action. When you re-enable the Master Data Consent it also re-enables Insure Connect and Service Connect, I just went ahead and disabled those as well. I'll give it some time and retest, but I'm hoping that the only one needed to have accepted is the master data consent.

Final update, turning off everything except the Connected Services Master Data Consent had no ill effect. My final settings under the Data Privacy Portal are:

Connected Services Master Data Consent: Accepted
    Drive Pulse: Declined
    Insure Connect: Declined
    Service Connect Communication: Declined
    Wi-fi Connect: Declined

As previously mentioned, I for whatever reason had a 10 year trial available when I turned Master Data off and back on. This trial does not include remote start from anywhere, but key fob remote start works. If you do not have a trial available, it might be worth asking your local dealership how this is managed/determined so that you can keep using at least the key fob remote start.

Stopped working in December in wife's 22 Sequoia. I'm not paying a dime to Toyota, nor giving it my consent or private data.
