Hello. I just bought my first Tundra about a month ago and this is my first time posting. I just had a question about the size of the gas tank in the ‘21 Tundra. Everything I have read says it’s either a 26.4 gallon or a 38 gallon tank. However, I have not been able to get more than 21 gallons in my truck on a completely empty tank. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for your help!

The gas light comes on with about 6 gallons left.

Your fuel pump will run cooler and last longer if you cut it down to about 15 gallons or so.

It’s most likely the 26 gallon tank. The light comes on with about 6 gallons in reserve to keep the fuel pump submerged to prevent it from overheating.

You can run it lower, but you’ll pay the price in shortened fuel pump life.

(On a side note, I don’t understand why this comes up pretty much every day. Just about every single newer vehicle is the same way. I also don’t understand why it’s such a burden for people to stop for gas.)

Yeah, you have the 26 gallon tank.
I just put 25.6 gallons in mine the other day at about a 1/4 tank reading on the gauge (maybe a little over)

    Thank you for that information.
For me, it came up because I was unsure and could not find the information that I have now, found here. I wouldn’t call it a “burden“, but I do fill up three times a week, so it is a change for me.

You have the 26 gallon. The 38 gallon will take 30-32 gallons as it's max.

I filled up today at the lowest my truck has been since I bought it 3 years ago. I had 88 miles to empty when I pulled up to the pump. The only reason I let it get that low is because I’ve been laid up with a herniated disk, and it’s only been driven a handful of times the past 3 weeks, mostly to doctor’s appointments. And my closest gas station is 10 miles out of the way. I normally fill up every Friday on my way home from work, but the last time I worked was a Thursday.

Small tank guys grumbling about their small tanks, and in walks Taco-Spike swinging his big tank around.
