Just noticed for the first time, I think my headlights are malfunctioning. It very well could’ve been this way from the beginning and I didn’t notice.

During the day, on passenger side the daytime running light is on. On the other side the headlamp is on and daytime running light is off. This is with my lights set to auto. I can’t get it to change either. Only by switching on the brights. Has anyone else noticed this?

This is like my fifth problem, third trip to the dealer. I really wanted this truck to work out, I think I’m going to explore my lemon law options. I’m too busy to be constantly dealing with these issues.

I agree, truly unfortunate problem(s) to have to go through for a new truck.

I hope you get taken care of.

Just made a case with Toyota. Requested a buyback and a new truck. I want this Toyota thing to work. I’m willing to give them another shot but damn has mine been problematic.

I feel like I’ve purchased the experimental prototype. I’ve had every issue every other person on here has described and then some. Hopefully they can get me a new truck in a timely manner.

1st was losing all lock function to the vehicle, key fobs and all. Wiring harness went bad in the drivers door. They had to completely disassemble door and repair. In shop for days.

2nd was a really loud banging sound coming from the front end, almost like the flap in the front was broken free, they never found anything.

3rd was the lack of promised passenger side auto dimming mirror, they have parts on order.

4th was missing rubber door insert on driver rear door, on order with no ETA

5th was passenger front door trim peeling off

6th was hardware bulges on fender flares and really bad finish

7th is this headlight thing, the last straw

Edit: there been so many that I can’t even remember. The only thing I haven’t experienced is the waste gate issue but I’m just counting down the days.

Don't say "the only thing", LOL...mine spent its first 5 weeks in the shop for the AC. I passed our states lemon law requirements with that one issue due to time in the shop. I too have a similar list as you, instead of the headlight this week, my running boards developed a mind of their own.

Dude I forgot about your AC thing. You should request a buyback as well. You have much more patience than I do!

In all honesty, I really do love the truck. If they did buy it back, then what do I do? I can't get into something comparable to a Platinum for the price. The dealership did offer to buy it back or trade it for a new allocation last month before I picked it up from it's 5 week spa treatment. The drawback was their best guess was at least 3-4 months wait for a new one, possibly longer. I'll ride it out, unless something crazy happens. TN lemon law encompasses the first year of ownership.

Take the buyback, wait for a new truck and enjoy 3 to 4 months of putting miles on a rental or one of their loaners.

I'm 2000 miles in now, lemon law would be my only option and I'm not near that fed up......yet. Plus, between the tonneau and bed slide, I'm almost 3G in accessories. It's all good, the truck is great .......for the most part lol.

Do you become not eligible for buyback after a certain mileage? I’m at 3000.

I haven't inquired, that was just an assumption as it's just a used vehicle now vs the deal offered before I drove it off the lot. I'm no where near that point of frustration, so it doesn't matter to me (at this point).

Dropped my truck off this morning, just heard from the service advisor. There is a bad wiring harness in the dash. The driver side headlight is stuck on. They are waiting back to hear from corporate Toyota whether to repair or replace the part. My dash is currently torn apart. I’m also waiting to hear back about the buyback.

Update from service advisor. Wiring harness on order.

Also, there was a chunk of the paint missing from the drivers door handle from the first time around when they fixed the wiring harness in the drivers door. The dealer refuses to accept responsibility and will not order parts.

The dealer also deemed the fender flares part of the design and the bumps underneath are “something I will have to live with”. They refuse to order parts.

The dealer deemed that the passenger side auto dimming mirror part is correct, isn’t even available and “something I will have to live with”.

The dealer is being so hard to work with that I feel like corporate is not even going to accept my buyback request. I might have to have to take legal action into my own hands.

If I do, this will be my only and last Toyota.

Trying to take any legal action against Toyota will be money flushing down the toilet.

shit man, sorry to hear that. This is exactly why I am waiting.

what about just selling it and being done with it. I bet you can get all your money back at least and just move on, life is too short to have to deal with bullshit like this.

"live with it" hey toyota, phuck you, live without my 70K again..

100%, just sell it and move on, it's not worth the stomach lining loss over a truck thats sub-par. You just got the short end of the stick in the truck lottery.

When filing a lemon law claim, the manufacturer is responsible for covering all legal fees and even other compensation.

I will make a lemon law claim before I try and sell it. I put 10K down and even at 2.5% APR for my financing, I would be losing my ass, plus taxes I loose out on.

Regardless, I feel bad for the poor SOB that ends up with this thing after me.

That is literally just your dealer being difficult. My dealer spoke with Toyota and sent pictures of fender flare bumps. He was told to replace all four and report back to see if it is a part problem or install error.

He was initially told no dimming mirror on passenger side and when I sent supporting documentation they are now working on a resolution.

You need to report that dealer and seek help elsewhere, I have a ton of issues but at least my dealer is working to resolve them all.

10-4, took that advice very seriously and just called my case manager at Toyota and updated them on what the dealer said.

forgot to mention, they ordered a full trucks worth of trim to repair the one little piece.

if you look up the thread some, you see where I said they missed a rubber door insert on rear driver side. The rubber insert is part of the door, the entire interior panel is on order lol

This is crazy. The only problem I’ve ever had in any part of the fleet was an alternator in the 2011 at around 100k, and I’m pretty sure that was caused by not replacing my battery when I should have.
