Been reading the operators manual and looking through the forum, but have not found torque values for rear differential fill/drain plugs and oil pan drain plug for the 2022 Tundra. If anyone has these, it will be greatly appreciated.

If you have other torque values for the 2022, it will also be appreciated.

    Thanks,

That is what I was looking for. The numbers they gave me were not correct for the rear differential. Will edit my post.

    Thanks!

Wow, Toyota went back to a metal oil filter on the new 2022 Tundra, not the canister type. Good to know. Thanks!

The spin on filter has a nice drain a hose can be connected to:

I thought Toyota was all-in on the cartridge style filters. Surprised to see this

    Cool redesign.

OP, why are you changing your diff fluid so soon?

Where does one get a PDF of the repair manual?

    Thanks,

I tow a travel trailer. In the operators manual it states not to tow until 500 miles and to break-in the Tundra for the first 1000 miles. I'm going to start towing with the Tundra next week with 1000 miles.

This is just me but, on my last new pickup I changed the rear differential oil at 3000 miles and it was dirty. The magnetic drain plug had plenty of fine metal particles attached, too. I did not have a used oil analysis performed since it was breaking in, but it was dirty.

I did my rear diff at 1000 km and it was dirty looking and had lots of sparkles in it. Probably one of the best first things I did along with dumping the engine oil too. I can't imagine going Toyota time spec on that without changing it out (if you plan to keep the truck a long time). Almost easier to do the diffs than change the oil too.

I'm going to stand on a box and say that Amsoil or Redline gear oil is leaps and bounds better than the crap Toyota fills it with. Cheap insurance and I like my truck.

Diff cases generally have some material left over from machining and assembly. I don't blame you for wanting to get that out of there on a new, expensive truck.

We hope to keep this truck a long time.

Purchased our Tacoma new in 2003 and I do all the maintenance. Installed Redline MT-90 oil in the Tacoma's manual transmission could feel a definite change in smoother/easier shifting compared to the previous tranny oil. Already had some recommended & pricey Toyota LT GL-5 75W80 differential oil on the shelf, so that's going in the differential. The 2022 Tundra is our 4th Toyota pickup.

    Too many, but not enough....
How do you release the oil once you connect the hose to that drain?

Going to temporarily install a hose to the drain fitting, then thread the filter out one or two turns to let it drain out through the hose before removing the filter.
