I will assume you are talking about the rear driver/passenger side door windows and not the roll up back glass.

There has been lots of thoughts on it sprinkled through different threads on the forum (you may have to search and find).

Some folks seals seems to stay in and others keep popping out but most (if not all) seems to have that gap.

So I think it’s a “wait and see” if water ingress in the area causes any issues.

I am afraid it might be a problem that causes other problems! Thanks

It just might to be honest (I think that’s what a good bit of us fear)…but I don’t think anyone has gotten a straight answer (by design or QC issues or both) to see as yet what those additional issues might be.

I have a 2022 Platinum. It has the issue with the gap and seal popped up. 2 of my bosses have the same exact issue on their Platinums. Full disclosure I work at a dealership. I pointe it out to the head guy today on his. I am sure it will get an answer shortly. I will update yall.

Have you heard anything on this?

I have the gaps on my windows on my platinum as well but it doesn’t really bother me or seem to be causing any issues. It’s rained several inches since I got my truck and it lives outside as well.

Im not sure if this is the same problem, but the rubber rear window trim/seal on my 22' Limited is messed up. It doesnt want to pop in at the bottom and is unevem at the top. I was thinking about taking it in to the dealer.

The problem is purely cosmetic, but it should be perfect on a $60k truck.

I washed my truck today and I noticed the rear window trim held a ton of water. I had to bump it a for a solid minute to get it to drain most of it out. I assume it leaked in to the point from the gap in the trim. Anyone had any luck with the dealership replacing this?

Seems like a cosmetic issue to me. Water always flows into the door on every car. That’s why there’s are drain holes at the bottom of the door and why a plastic vapor barrier is installed on the door behind the door card. I don’t think the gap is causing the wind noise problems. Some people have the gap on both sides but no wind noise, myself included.

I really don't have and issue with the gap from the end of the seal thou it is cheesy looking. I do have an issue with the seal popping out on both rear door windows. Looks like a fit and finish you would see on a poorly made truck. Should I not expect to see the window seal stay in place as I would hope it was designed for.

Replaced tires, and rear window trim
I just bought a new 2022 Toyota Tundra Limited TRD OFF ROAD package, on September 20th. 2022, the Tundra had 3 miles on the speedometer when I took it for a test drive. I’ve been a fan of Toyota since 2020 when I bought a new Tacoma truck. Anyway I really liked the power and the smooth ride of the 3rd generation Tundra, I brought the Tundra home from the dealership and was looking around online for information about the pickup and came across this forum about the rear doors window trim, I looked at my window trim and it had the same type problem. I called the dealership made a appointment, next morning I drove back to the service department at the dealership, they told me that I’m the first one to bring the truck back for the window trim? The part’s guy took pictures and ordered new window trim for both rear doors windows. Thanks for the info Tundra Forum ( if you have this same type of issue, Call your dealership parts guy)

Welcome…many have done exactly that and either gotten a replacement as you have (which can sometimes pop right back out) or had the dealer pop it right back in with a shrug of “dunno what else you want me to do…that’s the design”.

What this forum will also teach/reinforce over time is that each dealer is Independent and you are not liable to get the same consistent response or action…so I do hope your new trim piece works out for you.

I haven’t seen much complaints of it on the later 2022 or new 2023 so Toyota quality/fix must have gotten the upper hand finally.

Enjoy the truck though…it has its issues in some cases but still enjoyable in my opinion
