Help. My wireless charging spot is not charging my phone!

It will charge for a few seconds and then just stop. Also if there's already a thread going about this please share, I did some searching.

    Truck Details: 2022 Tundra 1794 Edition, iForce-MAX, 4x4, 14" Infotainment Screen
Phone Details: iPhone 12 Pro Max with qi-compatible case

What I have tried so far:

    • First off, tried with and without a wireless charging compatible phone case (same results)
    • Removed profile from the truck/phone app, and remade profile
I don't know if it's just a quality issue with the charger, or there's some software update that needs to be pushed out. Also, yes I plan to bring it to the dealer to fix whenever my 5k mile service is due, but wanted to see if there's some dumb easy fix that I'm missing haha!

Disclaimer for the sake of making sure my truck knows I still love her, these are only minor set backs that hardly affect performance.

Mine has the same issue, case off worked the best but it was limited too…works for a bit then stops.

Is this your only wireless charger? I would try this on a wireless charger in your house to see if it is an issue with the phone or the truck.

Not a bad idea. Don't have one, but I bet I have a friend with one I can try. I'll report back later - thanks!

the platinum I tested it didnt work either, just kept disconnecting

there is a large thread here somewhere about this, I think the outcome was the charging coils are too small or weak

Unrelated but I know your 1794 has the digital dash and the speed limit pops up in your center screen. Do you know if it pops up on your factory navigation screen as well (not CarPlay)

No I haven't noticed it show on the factory navigation - just the digital dash.

Ok thanks for the reply. It must only pop up if you don’t have the digital dash. For the record my charger works but in general wireless charges are terrible in trucks in general. I had one in the console of my 2020 and it never stayed charged. My 22 works fine on smooth roads but it is slow and almost useless with any maps on

My iPhone works fine, but my wife’s works on-and-off. You gotta have a case that supports wireless charging and even then, not all of them are created equal. Some “wireless charging” cases are cheap and just don’t support the technology well. I have the Apple leather case on my phone and haven’t had many issues.

I had a charging issue when I first bought my truck, rebooted the phone and it has worked fine since. I have a 1794 also and an iPhone XR with an otterbox case.

There's a few thread on this already, generally speaking the Toyota oem wireless charger sucks across the board

search the forums for phone mount and there's a few out there around what people have done to setup alternate options that work better

Mine works OK with the case off, but poorly with the case on. I have an Anker wireless charger at my desk, and it works well with the same phone. Sounds like this is an issue for everyone.

Mine does not work on any phone with or without a case. My phone charges on multiple other wireless charges I use. Going to report to the dealership next week when they replace my radio/screen.

Mine works best with the phone slightly to the left (not resting on the plastic tab)

The wireless charger sucks. Very hit or miss. Sometimes will charge OK, but more often starts blinking and charging stops. Case/no case doesn't seem to matter.

For me (Pixel 6 phone), I had to remove my 3rd party case and put a spacer under the phone to raise it up. So far, so good now. Depending on phone, case and placement (up/ down and-or left/right) may help quite a bit.

I'll 'clean up' the look of my spacer but can't really see it unless leaning forward anyways...PXL_20221016_152449016.jpg

I’m planning on drilling out a circle and putting a MagSafe charger there. Probably just plug it into the usbc plug under the armrest.

My buddy and I was working on a 3D printed part/fix that would involve straight replacing the qi charger with a MagSafe charger. It will retain the OEM appearance and charge a whole lot better.

we have a factory built in charging mat in our 2021 rav4 hybrid, and it's lousy as well. we haven't used it in ages and just plug things in.

Just my experience. My Samsung S20 works no matter the case no issue ever, my work phone a Samsung works no issue ever even with a huge case. My wife's iphone doesnt work for crap, I would never personally own such a piece of trash so I have no worries.

Mine works fine case off. iPhone 12 Pro. My wife has a case that it works perfectly with. Same phone. Otherwise this is my single biggest disappointment with the truck. That and I didn’t realize the package I spec’ed has that goofy big ass speaker that sucked up the rest of the behind the seat storage in my hybrid. That one is my fault though.

The problem lies in the very small charging surface area behind the panel and the thickness of the plastic coupled with a general underpowered charging supply required for modern iPhones. Makes it extremely temperamental with phone placement.

The charging area is a meager 1x2”:

I’m thinking the charging settings on the iPhone affect the wireless charger. My phone is set for optimized charging and feel it won’t charge if it doesn’t have to. I’ve been driving and noticed it’s not charging and have not touched it. After awhile streaming music(draining battery), it’ll start charging again. Maybe that’s affecting it… maybe not. Lol

Again, the qi charger has been tested and found to be putting out 2w of power. MagSafe chargers put out 20w. That’s why it does keep/increase the charge.

Our charger will solve the location, charge surface area, and power output so that it will actually do what it’s supposed to do.

I am having the same issue. 2022 Tundra, Samsung S23 & Note 10+. Is this a possible class action issue? Toyota needs to do the right thing and issue a recall or something. This would have definitely been a deal breaker had I known. My Gf Apple 13 works everytime, case or not. I bought an S23 just to solve this with no luck.
