Was super excited to have purchased the 1794 edition tundra at the end of February of this year. I have literally had the vehicle for under five months and I’ve already noticed issues on the so-called leather seats. Unfortunately I learned the hard way and realized that I was sold synthetic leather, after realizing that there are many areas on the seats that are already peeling highly disappointed as I did a lot of research on the truck prior to purchasing it and literally everywhere it states that it is leather seats no where have I seen that it is synthetic or as they call “flex Blend”

Anyone else noticing this issue already? If so, what did you do to get it fixed? I am literally going back-and-forth between the dealer and the Toyota corporation. I’m still waiting to hear a response as to what Toyota corporation is going to do as I believed that I was purchasing a luxury truck with leather seats, and all the bells and whistles. This is my first major purchase, and I am highly disappointed that I have not even had the truck for five months and I’m already experiencing these type of issues.

as of this moment, the only resolution I was given was to have the seat cover replaced with the same material and get this one time replacement only which means that if it happens to any of the other seats, I’m basically shit out of luck.

It's all good, although I was about to call my wife to help translate your OP.

    :worthless:...of the seats, of course.

Softex on modles below my platinum level.
Are you just pissed it's not genuine leather?

Anyone here saw/touched the Platinum or 1794 "leather" seats and thought they were top/full grain leather?
    I certainly did not.

Not knocking on the OP, but while our models to not have "plastic" seat covers, don't expect them to have top quality "real" leather either, unless explicitly listed and advertised as such (and believe me, they would advertise it if it were true).
Now, as far as having issues with the seat covers - this is where I/we ask for pics to aid in documentation for the benefit of all...and to help you along the way as well, if we can.

I’m mad at the fact that I haven’t had the truck for 5 months and the seats look like this. I’m just trying to get advice. I’m new to this and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.

I see the small cracks only in this pic, have toyota replace it and see how it holds up. My platinum seats do not have that, but the small wrinkles are normal just like a sofa or recliners start to get wrinkles in them. My past F150 lariat had all the wrinkles after about 3 months in the driver seat I see that as normal.

I want to do this but my only concern is that they specifically said it would only be a one time deal. If it happens to any of the other seats they will not replace it.

It's a 2023 and still under warranty (assuming you're not over 36K miles). Have you talked to your dealership about having them replaced?

While I'm no expert what-so-ever, I see 2 scenarios here:
    1. Dry unused seats/leather, which started to crack. While you should know to "condition" your leather occasionally, if this were me at 5months, I'd seek a warranty replacement as well.
    2. Is this on lower part only/mostly? If so, do you wear jeans/pants with any funky buttons/etc...which may dig or otherwise cut into the seat?
I say this b/c we've had a couple of girls unknowingly destroy our bar stools, just sitting on them and "moving around" in jeans that would cut your hand if someone sat on it.

Overall I'd call those stress cracks, due to lack of moisture or flat out delamination, and not "abuse."
I'd insist on Toyota warranty replacement, and not accept any "one time" deal, especially if the seats are not used or damaged by the end user.
Talk to Toy corp. if you have to.
I'd also be ticked off if anyone gave me grief on a $60+K truck 5 months after purchase and limited, if any, usage.

This is why/where I'd open a case with Toyota and specifically tell them what your dealer is telling you. Their quality control on the seat covers is not your concern nor responsibility, and you shouldn't feel like they're doing you a favor "this time."

Again, all of this goes out the window if YOU cause the damage...but in this case I'd side with the defendant in the court of Tundras.com

The dealership will only replace the covers with the same material as a one time as a courtesy. They will not take responsibility and stated that the corporation has to authorize an upgrade on the seats or complete change out on all seat covers.

I’m going back and fourth with Toyota right now after my first complaint about it they flat out said they wouldn’t do anything about it.

After I called again and again they said they would reach out to other higher ups but could not guarantee that I would receive a different response.

I literally drive it to work and home for the most part 5000 miles only. I wear slacks and if I do wear jeans I have a soft blanket I use because I know the color can transfer or cause damage to the seats. I went as far as purchasing the leather conditioner from Toyota to ensure I wasn’t using something that would not damage it .

I have conditioned the sets at least once a month since I’ve purchased the vehicle.

    Side note:
You know this cow wasn't white-right? LoL

I often wonder(ed) who buys these white/light interiors, only setting themselves up for perpetual maintenance/appearance headache.
Still-wouldn't expect nor accept any cracks in brand new seats...

I probaly wouldn't even engage in any conversation with a dealer.
Bring in for service: Customer complaint - leather seat (one or any number) cracks.
Let them replace covers...one by one if they have to, as they keep on cracking (b/c you know they won't replace any non-defective ones just for nothing).

Last comment, as I look at these again.
My wife's 2005 4Runner's aftermarket leather seats started doing this.......about 10 years after installation and minimal care.

Courtesy ? Has nothing to do with courtesy, they are under warranty. Period. If it happens again and you are still under warranty, they are obligated to replace them again. Based on their comment to you, you'll have to escalate it but its still under warranty.

I had my drivers side bottom replaced 2 days before my warranty expired, 3 moths later and it looks just like the one I had replaced. Shitty material for sure

Damn this sucks, the seats do feel thinner then the seats in my 2017 1794 tundra. I was hoping it was just softer and not actually thinner. I will be keeping an eye on them. What I see in the pics is definitely wear and premature if the truck is that new. If I were you i would keep in contact with the dealer and swap the seats out towards the end of your warranty period.
