Does anyone have a pointer or doc about the new 3.5 V6 engine in the 2022/2023 Tundra engine?

Does it have multiple timing chains?

CCN does a great break down on the engine and he has other vids that do in depth reviews all around.

Woof. Looks like a single long chain just like the Gen 1 3.5 Ecoboost.

luckily it took Toyota so long to come out with their engine that there have been two major updates to API standards since the Ecoboost came out and they address chain stretch

i think toyota resolved that issue with having a thicker beefier chain than the domestics.

its shown in the mike sweers video of him holding a chain in his hand showing how much beefier the tundra chain is

AFAIK, the stretch is coming from wear from the soot and fuel in the oil not the tension on the chain. Since its passively lubricated, youre not depending on the roller pins being completely separated with oil pressure like other parts in the engine, but instead the properties of the oil to keep it lubed. With soot in there, it wears. If your chain is twice as long, you only need 1/2 the wear per link to start disrupting timing. Thats why ford went to two chains, one for each bank. Each one is shorter so they can accommodate more wear.

Of course, Ford used crappy phasers from Borg Warner so there were still timing issues

    but i could be wrong.

That’s the transfer case chain, not the engine timing chain.

Another cool feature is the 3.4tt will self-destruct at around 35k, so in theory you will have a new engine at no charge:)
