Just got a 23 Tundra Platinum with the rear air ride adjustable height system or whatever it’s technical name is.

looking to get a lift (stock height is insufficient) and the tires look super skinny to me so need those beefed up.

thinking I wanna get some 35’s on here but not sure what type of lift I need so that I’m not gonna have some error light with the rear air system all the time. I don’t off road a ton but would be nice to know it’s capable if I so choose. Don’t want anything less than current ride quality wouldn’t mind something better without creating issues with the rear air ride suspension system though.

where do I even start? New to all of this for the tundra and a lot of these threads take me down a rabbit hole quick and I feel dumb as hell just reading it all. Help is needed.

Unfortunately I think if you want 35s and lifts etc, that was the worst model to buy due to the avs and air suspension, that’s going to make it much more difficult.

but anything is possible and I’m sure someone will chime in, I think one member even removed that portion if I remember right

Can be done. I did it with the trd lift but it needed some extras.

What kind of extras are we talking? Do you have a thread with a breakdown of what you did?

    Give this a good read.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/leveling-22-platinum-with-avs-air.99893/

I adjusted mine more to get it off the bump stops and the ride difference is huge, but there are guys that had success with a. $45 Amazon spacer and the AVS adjustment going to a large tire

in my case I am tired of rattling around on the big tires so am staying stock for this truck.

Going to the TRD lift, I no longer have the AVS functionality. I never used it much or really felt the difference. I also don't adjust the rear airbags up or down now. That final height is ok for me. If you want more rake you'll need something custom beyond the age or westcott options.

One big note about the TRD lift is needing the extra factory parts for a SR5. The shock mounts are different due to the AVS. That lift is primarily designed for a non avs truck but it can be made to work.

And when you say rake I’m assuming your talking about the rear end being slightly higher than the front end to give it a more leveled stance with load added to bed? Forgive me I’m trying to remember all these terminologies. It’s been like 8 years since I had my Tacoma and lifted it and was a part of this world.

Avs = adjustable shocks. This is different than the rear airbags which are load leveling.

Yes correct. I'm pretty much level but the airbags level out when I tow or haul so I didn't worry much about the rake. So idk I might change it.

Westcott Lift AVS/Rear Air, 35/12.5/18 Toyo Open Country AT3, Method 305 NV 18x9 (+18 Offset), Extang Solidfold 2.0 Tonneau
    Hi all -
(posted this in new wheels and tires thread too- but thought it was beneficial here) After a ton of research on 3rd Gen Tundra lifts for the rear air trucks that have AVS, I finally decided on doing the Westcott AVS/Rear Air lift (for the Tokico shock). Im extremely happy with the outcome. This is a 2023 Platinum Magnetic Gray Metallic sitting on Method 305 NV Double Black (18x9, +18mm Offset, 6x5.5, 108 Centerbore) wrapped in Toyo Open Country AT3s 35/12.5/18 D. Here are a few things to note that many have asked:

    - Yes, the front lift is 'about' 2 inches and not 3
    - Yes, you can set it up a rake (mine has about an inch) by adjusting the rear air control arms for height
    - Yes, 35 inch tires with wheels that have +18 offset will easily clear with zero rubbing (as along as the front liner is pinned back)
    - Yes, AVS controls still work
    - Yes, rear air controls will still cycle through H-M-L just fine

I understand that stance, wheel choice and ride-quality are ALL based on opinion/preference but here is my two cents. In my opinion (and one that drove a 2012 Tacoma for 11 years) the ride quality isn't 'crazy' different than stock. Yes, it is slightly stiffer like most lifts end up being... but nothing that makes me second guess putting the lift on.

Here are a few shots and I build a comparison that is as close as I could get. Hope this helps all you AVS/Rear Air guys a bit. The AVS and all rear air systems were a bit of a challenge. Cheers guys.

What kind of tires did you have on it in the before pic? 285 fit with no issues or did you have spacers added? Or any other mods prior to "after".

No issues at all before or after. No spacers before or after. The tires I had before were Toyo Open Country AT3 285/60R20. No prior mods.... just the 285s put on at the dealership before pick-up.
