2023 Tundra SR5 Off Road Question

Hey guys,

I recently put a deposit down on a 2023 Lunar Rock Tundra SR5 with the TRD Off-Road package. It is in transit.

I emphasized to the dealer that I do not want the chrome, or nickel finish. He is adamant that the SR5 Off-Road will be delivered as shown in the picture without the chrome mustache. He is also adamant the Off-Road package comes with all black rims. Based on my research and YouTube videos, I feel like it might arrive with chrome mustache and black and silver 18 inch rims. Am I wrong?

 

You are correct. Mustache will be chrome. Limited off-road has the 20” black rims. SR5 off-road has 18” black/machined rims

 

Yep, you are correct and dealer is either lying to you or unaware that the TRD Offroad doesn't utilize the same grille/trim/wheel coloring of the TRD Sport.

 

Thats the model and color I have. Chrome moustache and chrome tips on the wheels.

 

This is what your truck will look like per Toyota's truck builder:


It will be chrome (though it looks like the brushed nickel in this picture) with 18" wheels. The Limited TRD OR package comes with the 20" wheels & the simulated "brushed nickel" mustache.

That being said, I wouldn't let a $54k truck go because of ~$1600 in parts...if it has everything else you want. Pretty easy to change wheels & tires and eliminate the chrome mustache.

Side note: It makes me wonder if Toyota's truck builder is wrong or they eliminated the chrome mustache from the 2023 SR5 TRD OR. Above is a pic of the 20232 SR5 TRD OR from Toyota's website. Below is a 2023 Limited TRD OR. The mustache looks the same. Maybe they dropped the chrome stache all together?

 

Oddly enough, when I build it on Toyotas website with the TRD Off Road package, it comes out with color matched mustache and black wheels. I’m guessing it’s a big in the system because I confirmed it will be getting shipped chrome as a 23’. Toyota really screwed up on that design feature.

I have a 23’ SR5 premium TRD OR in Lunar Rock and the only chrome is the mustache and rear bumper left and right sides. Door handles and mirror caps are also lunar rock color. I like the TRD sport wheels better because of the all black.

 

the rear bumpers are color coded now on sr5 trd or? thought that was trd sport exclusive? and higher trims no?

 

It's Chrome on my SR5 TRD OR.

 

Only TRD Sport comes like OP’s picture.

 

This is correct as far as all the research I have done.

my 22 SR5 TRDOR has chrome mustache and chrome inserts on the rear bumper.

I didn’t like it at first but now that I’ve had it a few weeks it’s grown on me.

 

My 23 SR5 TRD Off Road has chrome mustache and the 18" rims (not all black) - Canadian market
