Any reason NOT to buy a 2023 Tundra Crewmax SR5??????

One dealership in Maryland told me they had to replace 4 transmissions on 4 new Tundra's that came in because of a noise it was making. They disclosed that to me when I was searching for a new 2023 SR5. Not sure if this is the norm.

If anyone has heard of any problems with the 2023 SR5 please let me know. I might be looking for a 20 or 21 now.

Some mention on here of a few with trans clicking or something. Not widespread. Most seem pretty happy. Newer models have a few more kinks than established models. It’s a gamble. If you like the truck, most people seem to like the ones they bought. There are no guarantees in life, whatever you buy could have some issues.

I have a 23 SR5 and the transmission ticks when in drive. Doesn’t seem to affect anything but still not cool for a 50k truck. Dealership said it was “normal”. Supposedly tested other models

Well I have to believe that "IF it's normal" all 23 SR5's should tick as well. The sales guy told me that the reason they replaced the trans on those sr5"s that came into KOONS Toyota in Annapolis, MD. was because of the noise / ticks. Well, I'm headed there Tuesday and will take it for a drive and be listening for that tick. Thanks for your reply!

All trim levels of the 22+ Tundra have the same transmission. Are they really specifying SR5’s only have the ticking? I’d shop somewhere else. My 23 SR5 doesn’t have any transmission ticking.

Not necessarily on topic but I was shopping at both Koons in Westminster and Annapolis and after they tried jerking me around, ended up buying below MSRP at CMA's Toyota in West Virginia. Not sure of your distance but well worth it, super easy buying process and they take care of you!

With mine you have to have it in drive and sitting still with your foot on the brake. Other than in that sequence it doesn’t make any ticking noises. I have a case opened with corporate.

Same issue here--only in drive with pedal engaged---can hear it especially when in drive thru restaurants--let us know what comes out of the case?
