Is it just me or has Toyota really missed the mark again? I guess it's the new Tacoma platform based but looks way too much like Bronco Sport aka Escape...pretty much a glorified RAV4. The 1958 doesn't look terrible but where is it going to notch in between the Rav4 and new 4Runner?
I have a 1995 and a 1999 they make it look like a toy. Turbo 4 cylinder hybrid will be the only powertrain option. I guess nobody told them Americans aren't shrinking.

I think they nailed the new 250 series. It'll slot between the 4runner and the Sequoia both in size and price

It is on a similar frame platform as the 300, but does have the same/similar powertrain as the Tacoma. It is a new Prado without Prado badging.

The Lexus version (GX550) platform looks much better on paper with the ttv6. Will get one for my wife to replace her 4Runner.

The 4Runner is rumored to have the same 4cyl. Not sure how it will slot, but likely smaller than the Land Cruiser

To add, I am a big Land Cruiser fan, and would much rather have the 300 here, but the 200 was never marketed well and had very few sales here (even combined with the Lexus LX570). So I can see why Toyota pivoted, particularly with the Sequoia being built on the same platform as the 300 (sounds like a lot of old Sequoia don't like the smaller interior of the more offroad ready new Sequoia.

I think Toyota would have been better off bringing the 300 over and making the Sequoia even bigger to compete with the Yukon.

That said, the new platform will sell really well compared to a 300 which would be close to double the price (not sure how it will cannibalize 4Runner sales). I currently have a 2016 200 Land Cruiser and would not trade it in on a new 250, but I still like them.

Good points 40man, I have a friend that mainly sells high end German cars but dabbles in Toyota as they are so bulletproof. That said he just got a 2018 200 series in with only 35k miles...only $69995 wow.
more than I paid for my new Tundra but probably worth it. Call me old man but I remember when the Sequoia was just another mom bomb...guess the market shifted.

We picked up a 2017 200 series a couple years ago and haven’t regretted it for a second. Mine had double the mileage but was about $10k less - essentially the price of a new Tundra Limited. An amazing vehicle if you can live with the 300 mile range.

yeah that's the range on my 80 series with 33's about 14 mpg on a good day typically 12 mpg ha 25 gal tank...I bet that SxS was hurt...I guess the 200, as awesome as it is, just didn't look tough enough or blingy enough to look like $100k in the USA. I'm told it requires even less maintenance than the 100 series which is impressive to boot!

I am looking forward to seeing the LC250 as well as the GX550. Both just look really nice to me.

To me, this whole Land Cruiser US market mess came about because we never got the option for a base model “poverty pack” 200 series in the US. It was totally decked out (for a Toyota) and priced so close to the LX570, people just bought the Lexus instead. Nevermind that the market is pretty thin for a $90k SUV that is substantially smaller than a Suburban to begin with. No wonder they never sold very many…

So now the Land Cruiser “returns” to the US market. But that’s a lie, because a return would be the 300 series. The US always got the full size wagon Cruisers (60, 80, 100, 200). So a true “return” would be the 300.

But instead we get the 250, the Prado. The thing is though, we’ve always had a Prado in the GX/4Runner. We STILL have the GX and 4Runner. But now we get the 250 with LC badges. I guess it’s true that the LC badge is returning to the US.

Meanwhile in Qatar, you can get a 300 series with cloth seats, no sunroof, and triple lockers for the equivalent of $55-60k. Could you imagine Toyota selling that here? Me neither, but I’d buy one in a heartbeat. Guess I’ll just wait 25 years. :frusty:

Probably still more expensive to build a poverty 300 than a 4Runner, Toyota didn't want them to compete. But they likely will now. I'd love a 300 Land Cruiser, not a big fan of the LX600, but may be ok with a custom Dissent bumper.

I am anxious to drive a new 250. While it wouldn't be a replacement for my 100, I could see trading my wife's 200 for a 250 if the range is more than 300 miles.

Yep. I saw the 27 MPG estimate during the initial launch so my expectations are high!

I certainly won't be one of the first people at the dealership to buy one, but I will follow the release closely.
