Hello everyone just joined the forum today and bought a 2024 Tundra Limited Midnight Black on August 26 2024.
Traded in a 2021 Ram Limited that had problems of generating so much humidity from inside that caused condensation build up in the front passenger floorboard with no fix. Mechanically and electronically the truck was fine but no one could solve the condensation buildup. No cracks or leaks no issues with the ac or heat and dehumidifier’s did not work. No clogged drain tubes and after researching the Ram forums it’s a common issue in the current generation and a former parts manager with Ram confirmed these issues.
I was dealing with this since December 2022 and the dealership couldn’t solve it. Because of this I began looking around but with the high msrp and dealer add on I could not afford that much. I looked at Ford in March of 2023 but no deal and Toyota October 2023 with no deal which was a blessing in disguise with the engine issues and not sure if the 1794 and Limited I looked at would be on the recall list.
After watching the Car Care Nut and his explanation on everything and with the updated part for the main bearings I felt this was the best time to try again and purchase a Tundra with a May or later build date.
I looked at a F150 Lariat prior to the Tundra and it was nice except the 360 camera was bright with washed out colors. The discount for a 502a Lariat with dealer add on making it over 76,000 was not much of a discount after all and I left and went to Toyota.
I looked at a Midnight Black Tundra Crew Cab and a Blueprint Tundra and came away liking the Midnight Black. The interior has a nice clean modern look to it and it may not be as fancy as my Ram Limited but still nice enough. Platinum and up would have been nice but the Limited after discount and getting a good trade in on my Ram was more my price range. It’s a good bang for the buck truck with some luxury features and the softec seats are very comfortable.
The truck is non hybrid and handles as smooth as my Ram did and has plenty of power and I love the big screen. The camera is just a back up non 360 but I find it much better than some of the other manufacturers 360 camera.
The truck is fun to drive no rattles or creaks. Replaced OEM tires with BFG KO2. The Tundra may not have 4wd Auto but I found it too indecisive in snow and ice than in rain on my Ram.
Time will tell how it performs but I find the turn radius better than my Ram and it doesn’t feel as bulky. The air is the coldest I have seen in a vehicle that I have owned in quite some time. It’s colder on lower settings compared to the higher settings that I needed to use on my 21 and 16 Rams. Not sure what kind of mileage I will eventually get on the Tundra but it seems to be less picky about octane than my Ram which did not like 87. I ran 89 and 87 made the truck sluggish.
I plan on adding heated seats in the rear when I can find a good deal but will not add ventilated to the rear since it’s really not needed due to how cold the air is. Ventilated and heated works fine in the front. I don’t have heated steering but heard it’s a $150 add on. I plan to look into it. I also plan later on to add the door panel lighting that the Platinum 1794 Capstone have. I may not have all the luxury features these trims have but I know I can go after market and still save thousands of dollars compared to those trims and make my Limited the way I want it to be.
Sorry for the long post but being new I just wanted to share with everyone and maybe this can help someone else. Thanks.

Congrats! I have a 2024 Limited Crew Cab and love it. Way better than my wife's previous Ram. Granted hers was a Big Horn, so really no comparison, but I'd take the Tundra any day over a Ram.

    Congrats on the new truck!
I have an August 2023 built Limited, and like many others, I am underwhelmed with the coldest of the A/C.
Perhaps Toyota is monitoring this forum and fixed it.
    Or you got lucky…

Thanks everyone. It’s a work in progress but adding things here and there will save me thousands in the long run compared to purchasing trim models higher. I have put on over 300 hundred miles since Monday. It rides smooth and I like the turning radius better than my Ram which was not too bad. Full size pickup trucks are not known for the turning radius anyway but I find the Tundra good for a full size.
It’s ironic that my first Tundra was a 2013 Black Double Cab SR5 4x4 and now my second is also Black.
When I bought the truck it had 9 miles on it and mileage was 4.8 mpg and now it is up to 15.6 on 87 Octane. I’ve been on vacation all week and spent most of my time driving it breaking it in. When I go back to work and get back in my driving routine I’m curious to see what mileage I get. Even if I get the same as my Hemi which at best was 16.5 on 89 Octane I still believe I will save on gas by sticking with 87 on the Tundra since my Ram did not like 87. I find the inside not quite as hot as my Ram which was all black inside with leather. I have dark seats and dark console on the Tundra with gray pillars and gray headliner. Pics below. Hope the uploaded.

Adding floor liners will be my next thing and tow hooks. I do love the safe inside the console and love how it lights up at night.
If anyone knows of a good place to get good heated seats online please let me know. There is a truck accessory store close to another Toyota dealership that referred me to them that does heated seats for 650.00 including the install. My dealership said they can get heated seats for me and do it for 900.00. I will pass on them.
I do plan to change my oil at 5000 miles like I always have and not at 10,000 as per the Toyota Care Maintenance.

Good call on the 5k oil change interval. Engines are expensive, oil is cheap. Congrats on the new ride

OP, do the 1st oil change before 2000 miles. I did mine at 1940 miles and the oil is really DARK. I was surprised to see that. My next oil change will be at 5k miles on the ODO then every 5000 miles after that.

I have a '24 Limited iForceMax OR as well, got it in June with 4/2024 build. I have about 4000 miles now and the mpg is at 19.5.

Big Horn is a nice trim dagooaz. I had a 2016 Ram Rebel which was basically a Big Horn with more off road features and I loved that truck and paid it off but a collapsed carport on it motivated me into buying the Limited Ram which I got a good deal on and I always wanted leather seats and ventilated seats and the Ram Limited with the Hemi is all the dealership had at the time while other Rams were either eco diesel or 4x2. I really loved that Rebel had it for five and a half years no problems.

GoHuskers did the dealership do your oil change at that mileage? Thanks for the tip. No way I’m going 10,000. If I have to pay the dealership to do it prior to 10,000 so be it.
Nice looking Limited you have. If the dealership had white I probably would have taken it but Midnight Black and Blueprint is all they had. What Octane are you running in your truck? Thanks again and thanks to everyone in the thread. Everyone’s opinions are very helpful.

I paid to have the first oil change done just a bit over 1,000 miles, will probably do the next at 5,000 and then every 5k after that.

87 octane doesn’t seem to be a problem from anything I have seen here or my experience so far.

    congrats on the truck!

Thanks everyone. I filled up with 87 today. I normally get gas at Kroger because I’m a Kroger plus customer and every bit helps. I put over 400 miles after buying it Monday. Was going to wait till it go low enough to cause the fuel light indicator to come on like I do when I buy a new truck so I can get an idea how much on a nearly empty tank. After that I normally fill up around a fourth of a tank. I’m glad this engine is not as picky about octane compared to my previous Ram trucks.

For oil I’ve been running pennzoil platinum full synthetic for the last 8 and a half years and plan to stick with that.

OP, I did my 1st oil change but will let the dealer do the next one. I run 87 since it's the cheapest.

I would be careful filling up at Kroger full-time. Kroger doesn't use top tier fuel, so I would buy my tanks from a top tier fuel producer for the added benefit of a cleaner engine. My wife's 4.0L in her 4Runner will probably run forever on Kroger fuel, but for my turbo engine, I go top tier all the way. I usually get my fuel at Costco and it's typically way cheaper than the Fry's (Kroger) here in Phx. I just want to make sure my delicate Tundra engine is as clean as possible in all areas. I'm a big top tier fuel believer because I've seen what build up can do to an engine.

I always thought Kroger got gas from Shell according to what I have heard since Shell does accept Kroger points. I looked up online and apparently Kroger gets it from Shell, BP, or Exxon. I would believe Shell in my area since all Shell stations in my area accept Kroger points.
I could always go to Shell if Kroger gas is not the same quality but from what I have read it seems to be good quality and some it’s top tier and some it is not but still good quality. Who knows these days.

Kroger may get their gas from Shell, but it's not the same gas that is sold at Shell stations. What makes fuel top tier is the additive package added to the fuel to help keep things cleaner. I would imagine Shell does not use the proprietary Shell additive package in the gas they provide to Kroger. Check the website toptiergas.com.
