Good evening all! I am thinking about purchasing a 2025 TRD Pro in Mudbath. I currently have a 2020 Crewmax that I love.

I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on this move?

Reliability issues aside, I think it's not as great looking as the 2.5 gen.

I was close to buying one a couple years back but I'm not into it's looks.

But I outgrew my Tacoma and needed a "new" truck asap so I decided to get a 2020. I love it's simplicity, reliability, and it's looks. Doubt I'll get rid of it for a long time and I think you should keep yours till at least a mid cycle refresh on the new one.

    All opinions of course...

It's not for me. I don't care for the exterior styling, or the ginormous screen. Every chance I get I rent one (for work) or a Tacoma just cause. Gonna take some more growing and I'd personally wait to consider one until mid model year refeesh

I do however like the Mudbath color.

I say get it 100%!!! Even though I think the pro is kind of a waste of money unless it’s just for the mud bath color. My 2025 limited iForce max trd off-road is flawless and I love it! Build quality seems better than my 2020 I had and the 5.7 seems like a dog compared to the iForce max!

What about the 26 model year? You love your truck and I’m guessing in no hurry to trade it off. You could keep your paid off Tundra and do other things with your money, like vacations hobbies or projects. I’m loving having a paid off truck.

When it comes to a new vehicle that you like and you're even thinking about it, chances are you will purchase it regardless of opinions here.

3rd gen Tundra's seem to be getting better and that color is awesome. The choice is 100% on you. Pro tip ... don't let the dealership know you're chomping at the bit to get in one because a pro in that color is probably already marked up substantially.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Mudbath, and my 2023 1794 is not the quality or reliability that my 2015 1794 was.

If I had a 2020 with under 100K miles, I'd drive the screws off of it before I went to a Gen 3.

Just my opinion, of course. The only opinion that matters is yours.

Peak advice. I'd personally wait for a 3.5 gen and burn up miles on your 2020.

I have owned a couple of 1st gens and couple of 3rd gens. I like my current truck a lot but if I had a nice 2020 that I loved I would put alot of thought into it before I traded it. The pro will for the most part ride a drive better but there is something special about that 5.7 v8 and the reliability. I’m currently looking for a 2nd gen for a second vehicle

I would suggest waiting for 2026 if you could to insure that more 3rd Gen issues have been resolved.
But, with these new tariffs on steel and aluminum it may be best to pull the trigger now before the stealerships use this to justify driving prices way up.

My vote is to do it. The color looks much better in person. Mudbath may be a turn off for some, but it definitely beats recent colors like Terra and Lime Rush. Hopefully all issues are fixed for 2025

Indeed. Why? :monocle:You stated that you "Love" the 2020 Crewmax. Why change? Is there anything wrong with the 2020 Crewmax? Does it have high miles? Does it have an extended warranty? Is it rusty? Has it been in a collision? Does it smell like ass? Do you prefer the appearance of the third generation? Do you have money to burn?
Just your typical time to upgrade? The pros and cons of the third generation Tundra are pretty well documented. Obviously the comments you receive in a public forum are very subjective. Do what's best for you and your family and your budget. Good day and good Farming. Keep your stick on the ice.:)

I love Mudbath.... I didn't want a hybrid/pro. I had a 2017 in Quicksand and it hid the dirt perfectly and would constantly get thumbs up. It's likely that it will be available next year across all models.

    none....yet!
Funny how times change. Wasn't that long ago that would have been the color of grandma's Mercury Marquis, and it would have been called beige. And if you fancied yourself as a cool dude, you wouldn't ever be caught dead owning a brown vehicle. Not a chick magnet. Now marketing folks have turned it into a rugged outdoorsy color. I like my 3rd gen a lot, time will tell if it is any good or not. I never considered buying a 2 or 2.5 gen, and have 0 interest in owning one, so I can't speak to whether or not to keep yours over the new one. I will say the Trd pro is a very nice truck, and looks good in the mudbath color.

Different strokes for different folks. For me, the Gen 3 tundra is the best looking truck on the market. I’ve now put 20k miles on my 2024 SR5 over the last year. Lots of towing, lots of 4WD in snow. It’s still the best truck I’ve ever owned

Give it another year, your love affair will likely end.

It's like a girlfriend...the infatuation is strong at first, then her annoying habits begin to surface. Soon, she becomes just a tool to serve a purpose until you can find a better ride.

I sold my ‘18 Limited CM (Cement) to buy a ‘22. Once the excitement of the “new hotness” wore off, I really regretted it. I consider the biggest mistake I ever made regarding vehicles to this day. Oh well, live and learn. The most important thing is to do the best for you. When it’s all said and done, it doesn’t matter what my opinion, or anyone else’s for that matter, is. Good luck and Godspeed with your decision and journeys in life.

Coming from a 22 Tundra to a 25 TRD Pro, I’d say do it. The hybrid motor is just amazing. The two trucks are not comparable. The 25 is way more refined than the 22 was.

    Here’s my Mudbath!

hah, I’m not so sure! This tundra actually solved nearly all the annoying Silverado things. No more transmission slip, electronics actually work, less electronics overall, no horrible automatic tailgate, no constantly glitching 4WD issues, peppier performance, more storage almost everywhere.

This truck is a tool for me, but functioning as a tool is what I love about it. Once I find a tool I like, I run it into the ground. Unless something crazy happens, I tend to love something more as I own it due to all the things I’ve done with it. It does exactly what I ask, and does-so very well.

Even today we loaded 1500 pounds of stone into the bed - nothing makes me happier than enjoying using this amazing tool.

Wish I had my 19 TRD Pro back and wouldn't buy the 2023 Gen 3 if I could do it over again. V8 better, and Turd-Gen is awful. Rattle trap, buggy, and driving around on a grenade with the pin already out.... Give them another year or two...
