Ive had my truck for about 4 weeks, Last Friday I put the first heavy thing in the bed against the wheel well and now a large chunk of bedliner came off and more is starting to peal, has anyone had this issue? I took it to the dealer they said they wont cover it under warranty, I called Toyota and they said the same thing, so now I have it in an escalated case and hopefully Ill get an answer tomorrow. I have beat the crap out of previous spray in liners and have never even got a scratch in it. Now with this 22 I cant even used the bed without it peeling off and the dealer is telling me it was my fault? haha

I’ve read that here for sure , that’s bullshit and it was a known issue and they actually paused bed liner spray for a while I also read a while back

try a different dealer if you can, What the hell good is the warranty then ?

another guy said the hell with it and had line-x remove the oem one and redo it , it was way thicker etc

bummer you have to deal with that.

im in the market for one of these at some point here and I’m going to make sure I don’t get a factory liner and just use a bed mat, that’s all that’s needed since it’s composite anyways

I heard Toyota is pulling the spray in bed liners on recent builds. I think I’ve seen about 10 posts on Fb about folks who said Toyota removed it from the sticker

Take it to LineX and get it redone and send the bill to Toyota.

Looks glossy as hell underneath. Probably zero adhesion.

i find it hard to believe they won’t fix that, it’s stupid obvious it didn’t adhere to the composite bed

My 09 Taco had the polycarbonate bed that the 22 Tundra has. No way I'd line the 22 polycarbonate bed. It's way too hard to even get a high quality spray on liner to adhere to polycarbonate long enough to warranty it.. Yota dropped the ball on this....my 2 cents

With the public marketing claims that Toyota makes on their website, I'm surprised they're being so stubborn with owners that have damage. With words like "permanently bonded" and "fully warranted", I'm kinda shocked they won't fix a chip or tear in the liner caused by cargo. They also say, "repairs completed quickly and easily at a Toyota dealership" so they HAD to be anticipating eventual damage or delaminating. Why say something is "repairable" if you thought it would never need repairing? What would cause damage to a bed liner that needed repair if not for cargo? Seems really, really, really dumb they won't repair it under warranty.

On a side note: I've said it a few times in other threads..[knock on wood]...I haven't had any issues with mine. I've beat the hell out of it too and no damage yet. My build date was in November 21 and I took delivery on Dec 15th. I'm speculating here, but I wonder if something changed in their application process? Maybe it has something to do with the climate in which it's applied, if this is a "port" installed option? I live in a really dry climate so maybe that allows for better bonding? I don't know.

I'm just trying to understand why I've loaded 3 pallets with a forklift, and taken several bed full loads of demolition debris (home remodel) to the dump with no issue. However, someone puts 5 bags of mulch in their bed and it gets damaged. There's got to be some variable at work that Toyota hasn't caught onto yet.

It has been pulled (my Tundra has a build date slated for tomorrow). Original vspec sheet had it but current vspec the option is gone.

its probably better that way, for almost 600 bucks you can get a line x and done the right way

or better yet, if you need the bed not so slick use a bed mat and save yourself good amount of money.

the toyota one looks paper thin and shitty for 600 bucks, especially if they arent going to stand behind it like they say they will in those docs you guys posted.

Do these get applied at the factory or at some other stage in the process? This is my first vehicle purchase not imported from Japan, so I'm confused where this "port installed" option is actually put on the trucks. Is the port before or after it is on a train?

I think that "port installed" is massively over exaggerated. The dealer is the port more times than not. I know a dealer that has a large building and they spray those liners at their dealership.

All the port is a staging area and load the trucks in trains or trucks to be delivered.

It depends on the region. If you order and it’s on the window sticker it’s a Toyota port option and has that tundra stamp in the back.

if you’re in the gulf area it’s a distributor option sprayed at the distributor and doesn’t have the tundra stamp.

Now I’m curious if my grandfather 2022 tundra has Bedliner now. It was built 5/11. He doesn’t really need it but it was on the spec sheet. Haven’t heard anything from sales person.

I’m glad I haven’t run into any issue with my 2022 Bedliner. I have 2 aluminum motorcycle ramps that I just thrown in back and it hasn’t damage bed liner yet.

I wanted bed liner cause it helps loading a motorcycle into bed. Without it. It’s super slippery and dangerous if I slipped trying to load my bike in wet conditions.

My truck was built on 5/21. The papers I got from the dealer says bed liner but when I go to track the build it says the bed liner was removed.

I've had a Tundra since 2008 with a spray in. Never had a blemish. Just bought the 2022, put in a 4x8 sheet of drywall and now I have 2 large tears in the liner. Absolute junk. Dealer wont touch it because it's not covered. So disappointed in this cheap solution with such an otherwise awesome truck!

In my opinion all the Toyota accessories (tonneau, mats, running boards) are all way over priced compared to after market

Try a different dealer or call corporate directly. Mine was torn, my Toyota dealer submitted a warranty claim to Toyota, it got approved, and they outsourced the work to a local linex shop for full removal and replacement.

Used my truck to haul some brick and limestone today and noticed the bed starting to peal in certain spots… how hard did everyone have to fight to have Toyota warranty their bed liner?

No matter what I would push the dealer to use your local Linex dealer. Otherwise this will just happen again without non-prepped/non-hot lining application.

The one I am trying to order does not have a spray in and I was quite disappointed. My 2021 factory spray in TRD Pro has been awesome. Looks like I’ll go the bed mat way for the composite bed to keep things from sliding.

Yes, I just mentioned in the bed mat thread that my factory spray in liner failed within the first 2 weeks! Yes, I took it to the dealer and yes, they replaced it with a Line X under warranty. They didn't even put up a fight. The service writer took some pictures and submitted the claim to Toyota. He called me a few days later and told me to bring the truck back to the dealership. There happened to be a Line X shop 2 blocks from the dealer and the Line X guy came and picked the truck up. They did have it for 2 days but the dealer gave me a loaner. The LineX guy said the problem is Toyota is not spraying a primer down before the liner and that is an issue, especially on the composite beds. He also said he's been replacing them for years in the Tacoma because of exactly this, ever since Tacoma switched to composite.

    20220701_125255.jpg

Line X peeling it right out, easily...
