I have the digital mirror and have tried numerous times to get my garage door linked to homelink. Homelink accepts my remote, and I get to the point where I have to push the Homelink button 3 times, it asks if the garage door opened and I press [No]. Your supposed to be prompted to press the Learn button, as seen in other videos, but mine just says to Start Over with a yellow exclamation mark and what looks like a -5 code below. I took it to the Toyota dealer and they knew nothing about it. Can anyone help with this???

    quick summary :

    usually with homelink,

    1. you have to use the remote garage door opener to train the initial code to the homelink mirror,

    2. then push the learn button on the motor unit and then transmit the code learned from the remote garage door opener from the mirror (button 1 or 2 or 3) so the drive motor learns the new remote (homelink mirror)

i actually have my 4runner trained to open both doors of my garage where the wife tundra we only have a garage door opener since she cant park inside anyway and only uses it to open the garage door during bad winter days or during spring thaw where the front door is too icy to deal with.

We were not able to do it with the help of the Toyota's manual. The Homelink website provided much clearer instructions. We finally succeeded, after too much time lost.

I’m answering my own question. After trying so many times to get home link to work, I remember someone mentioned earlier to try and get an OEM remote of which I ordered a Liftmaster remote from Amazon that went with my opener. After programming the new remote to the opener, I followed the instructions on the digital rearview mirror and the darn thing worked. It worked on the first try and there was no need to press the Learn button on the Opener.

    awesome to hear.

mine opener is pretty old so i have to teach the mirror from a programmed remote, then have the mirror learned to the motor.

you were luck you only had to do step 1, but step 2 is sometimes needed depending on system.

    great everything worked out :)
