    Hi. Thanks in advance

    Truck in sig.
AT2’s on truck with 27k miles. So far two tires have been plugged, one tire side wall took glass and is no longer with us. These are the OEM Michelin’s

I drive long trips a lot towing at least 3500lbs. (16 months/27k mi)
I need a new tire, (no spare now) have two others with plugs.

Most sensible and smart thing in my mind:
Buy 4 new, keep old spare as spare.

I’m staying stock size. I know E rated will be a 1-1.5 hit due to weight.
I’m on job sites often. I’m in snow, rain, heat, cold and have been known to careen down a dirt road or ten.
Towing is 3500-7000 lbs presently. (10k of the 27k miles)

    Suggestions?
    AT2’s in LT 275/65/18?
    KO 2’s?
    Ridge Grappler?

Why is buying tires such a PITA?

    Thanks for responding

I have Hankook dynapros on my truck now. I personally don't like them. All 4 are worn differently. As soon as I gather the coin, I'm going to be putting Bfgoodrich all terrains t/a ko's on it . I have had good luck with the t/a on my last pickup and got 90k out of them.

I have 285/65r18 k02's on for a little over a year and a half, 20k miles, with absolutely no issues. Mostly my DD but I get them out in the dirt once in awhile too. Run them right around 40lbs for DD work and the wear has been pretty darn even. Rotated 3 times in the 20k miles.

They are heavy. 14mpg in town and 16 highway at 70mph.

Having said that, I would buy them again.

A few tire companies offer LT in load range C. This tire far exceeds the load rating of the Tundra and a better ride.

If you run the LR E tires and get a flat on the rear, you will have to rotate the front LR E to the rear and put your craptastic PMetric tire on the front.

    Thanks.
Lil taller and lil heavier but real close. Do you do any towing?

14/16 mpg is good considering 15/18 (?) is the truck rating I think.

Not much towing to speak of. Drag my little tin boat around occasionally but that's about it. It's probably no more than 2k lbs all loaded and ready to go.

Cooper and Goodyear have LR C tires in that size if I remember correctly.

I have 275 65 r20 Michelins Load E (10 ply) rated at 3750lbs each very dependable and solid but heavy tires . I average 17 mpgs but the tires are much larger than stock so at 55 mph I tack under 1500rpms. Speedo is off by that fact so I would say 18 + lmpg or better. The Michelins aren't the issue your job site is and going to a different tread won't change anything. Load range C is a lesser tire. You tow a lot like me, never had a better hwy tire than the 10 ply Michelins . Running over glass is you problem .

Different load rating on same axle. Shift weight to lower rated tire, and in short order have another blow out.

This is only for when towing.

General Grabber ATX's. I went with 275/70's to get a full 33". MPG dropped from 16.3 to 14.9 but I love these tires. I drive over 100 miles a day in upstate, ny shitty weather. Can't say enough good things about them. I paid just over $200 each. Zero complaints so far! @alpinepro4 can back me up here

I had for many years E rated tires about 11yrs now......so just last week I installed mon my 2008 the Stock 275 65 18 Michelin Ltx At2 and they ride so nice and my Mpg went up drastically and and also my powerloss is now back......should have never went to bigger tires they do look nice but do ruin a few items quicker I did notice that

I went stock size 255/70R18 to 275/65R18 [same diameter) BFG KO2 and really noticed no difference at all. I always got 14-15 before if it was a mostly city tank, and 17ish if I did a lot of interstate, and it's been around the same before/after. All that being said, I'm not a lead foot, so when I did the same in the 2016 Runner I owned previously(P rated to Load E), I noticed the same results. Your right foot, and speeds above 65 is the biggest determining factor to mpg when you own a truck IMHO...

Stock size helps. Keeping size 12 shoe out of it always helps!

As of “this moment “ I’m leaning towards the AT2’s in E rated. By dinner that’ll change I’m sure. Again.

You’re running bfg’s presently? How are they in rain? Do you tow?
    Thanks for replying

I just had them put on a few weeks ago and left the country on a work trip. I traded a 4Runner on the Tundra in Sept, and sold the Class C RV to get a travel trailer. We are buying a 32 foot 7,500 lb. trailer next month. I have so far put a TRD sway bar, Firestone air bags, and BFG load range E tires on it. Just ordered a Prodigy P3 to replace the factory controller I haven't even used, but by reading the posts on this forum, I don't want to use. I will make sure to post on this forum once I do.

My past history is towing a 8k trailer with a 2001 F-150, and 13,500k with a 2003 F-250, so I know I'm capable, and the Tundra is as well. Not worried about my abilities, just trying to make the truck as best I can before I even start. I know a 3/4 ton would be best for nearly 8k towing, but I also know I got my 2018 Tundra for 37,800, when the similar F-350 gas I was looking at was pushing $60k. I always towed the trailers or drove the Class C at 60-65mph at most, so I'm aware slow and steady is the safest and best way.

I had the BFG KO2s on 4Runner they are ok in rain, not great, but great overall tire and SUPER quiet

I was close to selling this but common sense won (a rarity)
Sway bar is on the to do list.
Maybe a lil caution on my part in rain with KO2’s would be wise.

Ok. Had a chat with Darren at boss4x4s.com
    Good man.

Notice the “S” in website!!! It’s needed. Otherwise you get a part company that sells tundra parts without Darren’s excellent knowledge or pricing!!

    Going Bilstein 5100’s all around.
