I've been reading alot to figure out if I can put 285/70R18 tires on the stock 18x8 rims of my 2008 Tundra, and my conclusion is YES I CAN. However... just before ordering the Kanati Terra Commander 285/70R18 tires, I noticed that this tire spec indicates a minimum 8.5" rim width.
I am very very interested to know what you think about this. Can I ignore and order the 285/70R18's or should I head the warning and go for the Kanati Trail Hog 275/70R18, which specifies 7-8.5" rim width?

Not enough to worry about. Pulls the sidewall slightly out beyond what the manufacturer says is ideal but it’s not unsafe and I’d bet if you looked at the tires spec sheet is gives 1/2 - 1” either way. That’s an 11” width tread. Just looked it up. No worries.

stock wheels work great for 285/70 as well as 285/75

Specs for the tires I've looked at in that size say approved rim width is 7.5-9", so an 8" wide factory rim is great. Now...

That’s what I’m currently running. Will move to 285/75-18 next time.

Yes, to confirm what others are saying they will fit, along with 285/75/18 on stock wheels.
