    Hi all,

I have a 2012 crewmax on rock warriors with spacers. Got ads 2.5s with spc control arms up front, and lift block in the rear about to switch it to deavers. I am debating what tire size to go with, 295/70/17 or 315/70/17? I currently have bfg 33x12.5. Would like to stick with wider tire, but not sure if I want to lose the mpg and do do the body mount chop. Does anyone know if I could run 315s without the body mount chop?

I have 295/70r17 on a 2” lift and also had the same size when I had stock suspension. Tire size looks good but my next one will be bigger to fill out the wheel well more. Probably 285/75r17 or 315/70r17.

You could run it without the BMC but you would most likely rub. I had a similar setup and would rub when backing up. Wheel offset will also play a factor. If doing 315 I would recommend the BMC especially if you’ll be doing any wheeling

I’m running 315/70/17 BFGs on Icon Rebounds +25 with 6112s at 1.9. I’m no where near the body mount. However, I was experiencing some rubbing on the mudflaps behind the tire and on the passenger side front metal bumper piece but only while in reverse and turning. The bumper piece rubbing was due to my wife having hit another parked car, so it was already dented inwards a bit towards the tire. With some muscle, a buddy and I pulled it back outward and that stopped the rubbing there. With respect to the mudflaps, I ended up removing them. The front plastic bumper pieces were already removed long ago before I installed the 315s, so I don’t know if they would’ve rubbed had they been on, but I’m guessing they probably would’ve rubbed in reverse.

The rubbing on the mudflaps, front bumper plastic pieces and body mounts tends to occur more frequently with aftermarket rims with less offset. Stock rims have around 50+ to 60+ offset. But wider tires with stock rims tend to rub the UCAs and the OEM skid plate (but not the TRD Pro skid plate, which apparently is narrower).

So Rock Warrior rims with spacers may cause rubbing on the mud flaps or front bumper plastic pieces. If you remove the wheel spacers, the rubbing may be on the UCAs or skid plate with the width of the 315s (about 12”?).

Of course, every truck is different, and what works on mine may not work at all with a similarly equipped truck.

Either way, post pics of whichever tires you decide to go with!

Thanks for all the input. I have 33x12.5s and no where near rubbing. Leaning towards the 295/70/17, but now debating bfg ko2s vs duratracs. Im getting 16-18mpg and it would be tough to go all the way to 11-13mpg. I dont do a lot of wheeling, but live in snow 6-7 months of the year, but also am on a lot of washboard and rocky roads to climbing areas. The saga continues.
