Hello all. I’m getting a 3 inch lift installed and can’t decide between 295/70/18 or 35’s. What would you all recommend for someone who likes to off-road?

35s are going to require specific back spacing, trimming of plastics and perhaps a BMC to run with 3 inches. A tire that large also reduces gearing significantly so you may want to consider re-gearing to 529s. Personally I would suggest going a little smaller on the tire, especially if you off-road so you will have more clearance, better driving performance and less headaches.

They look awesome but 35s on a daily driver is a concession, there are some negative aspects running tire that large.

I like my 295-70 18's . They fit with a +20 offset with minimal hastle. They are still pretty beefy. I do notice some power loss. More so just additional downshifting on long grades ect from stock . I also tow roughly 6k ish pounds regularly. I don't feel like the truck has no balls. I would personally never spend the amount of money it takes to regear for this size . There are times I wish I had just went with a full 35x 12.50.. But you do run into more fitment issues as mentioned above . I think 295-70 is a good compromise..

I currently run 295/70/18. I will probably try 35 next round. the 295 are a good compromise as far as clearance/height/weight etc..
If you dont go 35's, get 295.
I had both sizes next to each other. difference is not very noticeable.

I am running 295/70/18 Ridge Grapplers and ran them pretty good this weekend. They did leave a lot to be desired in deeper water/ mud, but ran good over the larger rocks. They are also nice and quiet on the street. With that being said I will probably being moving to a larger MT tire when the time comes.

I have 285/70 on my truck now. Just did a Westcott Pro lift and looking to go to 305/70 vs 35x12.50 due to UCA clearance. 35x12.5 will work, but only leave 0.1" of clearance.

I am on 295/70/18's right now. Have almost 70k miles on ridge grapplers. I will be moving up to 35s...maybe 37s and I am on a 3/1 lift.

285/75R18. Essentially a 35x11, less than a half inch narrower than a 295. Gives you the height but not as much inertia or fitment issues as a 12.50 wide tire.

I run 285/70's which is extremely close in size to the 295/70's.

Welcome from the wet side of WA. For me, 35's on my daily driver (I run 25k to 30k a year on my truck) is just too much. I'm about to get 295/70's and from all the pictures I've looked at, they will be just right for me.

But, you'll find as many opinions here as there are options for tires and lifts. And remember, if you don't like what you pick, worst case you're stuck with them for a couple of years (or you find someone to buy the used take-offs).

Reading this makes me curious what 3” lift you are getting installed??...

If you really like to Offroad I definitely would go with a true 35” and do the BMC and whatever else is needed to make them work. Of course we could also start to talk about 37s and the amount of lift they give you over trail obstacles

BMC is truly no big deal, but totally get it. Bought my truck used from a Toyota Dealership and it already had the BMC done. No one cares, and if it’s done right you can’t even tell unless you know what to look for.

Sounds like fun! I would definitely go with the 295/70r18 or the 285/75r18, looking back at things I’d probably go with the 285/75r18 for a little extra height compared to width. Get your truck frame further off the ground

Im driving a 2007 ( original owner ) Tundra limited, 4.7, two wheeler and thought it was time to freshen her up. I’m doing a 2.5 inch lift with 285x65x18, using the Bilstein 5100’s all around and to level the front end. Just bought my console vault safe, some weather tech window deflectors and Matt’s, going to look at the Hellwig sway bar as well. Hoping I’m doing the right thing, wish me luck.

The guy at 5 wheel parts recommended the 285x65x18, saying with leveling the front this size would not run at all, since that was a concern and it’s a two wheeler Therefor I took his expert advice.
