I have a 2011 Tundra 2x4 4.6 TRD. It didn't come with a back-up camera and I want one to look as stock as I can (no suction-cup monitors, etc.). I came across the following Toyota OEM solution but it only fits 07-09? Did something change in later years that this wouldn't fit?

    https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota__Tundra/Monitor-for-Back-up-camera/69527331/PT9230C08043.html

My truck has the harness in the rear to connect the camera, I feel sure it would have the other end under the roof console as shown in installation videos, but maybe this is in fact the change? Has anyone installed one of these on a 2010+ 2nd Gen Tundra with success? Picture below I wasn't sure which was the harness for camera but I seem to have it regardless?

If not the OEM, does anyone have another solution for back-up camera (integrated into rear-view mirror, etc.) that I could splice/utilize the existing wiring harness so I won't have to run new wire from front to back? Thanks in advance! I have been looking at usual places like Crutchfield, etc. and can't find a good one I like.

2010-13 is pre wired for the backup camera monitor in the rear view mirror. If you buy the factory tailgate handle camera and the factory camera monitor rear view mirror, they will both be plug and play. I did this in my 2010.

Unless your truck came with Nav, then I think your camera will display on the nav screen.

unless you have a grade model. if you have a grade model, you may be missing the section of harness behind the glove box as myself and numerous other grade owners have found out :(

Where do you get the monitor or rear view mirror from? Camera looks good. Best bet I have is to get a new head unit that would display camera but that means more wiring. Has anyone used the factory wiring for an aftermarket setup like this?

Got my mirror on eBay. I’m sure it can be purchased from the dealer too. Sorry, don’t have a part number.

In your pic, the plug on the right side (grey) is the one for the tailgate camera. The other connector is for the rear bumper parking/backup sensors, which your truck doesn't have since it is not in use. From personal experience, take a detailed pic of the end of the back-up camera harness connector (grey one). Depending on the vehicle year, there are at least two different configurations, and they are not interchangeable. There are several vendors selling aftermarket cameras, with descriptions that suggest they may fit model years '07 to '12. This is not true, because of the plug difference. My '08 (and I believe '07 - '09) have the monitor built into the overhead console, if you don't have the navigation system. I had to buy the oem overhead console monitor from a vendor on ebay, and located the correct camera (after trying two wrong ones that didn't fit), before I finally got mine to work. If you get the correct oem matching camera, and view screen for your vehicle, I believe they will be plug and play, with all the wiring needed already in place.

2011 owner here. My research says that we are prewired for oem camera at both ends so the easiest install would be the OEM tailgate handle camera linked above and the matching Gentex mirror with the screen built in. Two choices, one with homelink, one without. Total cost depending on where you buy everything is between $400-800ish.
2nd option is aftermarket head unit to display the same OEM camera. One company that sells this stuff camera source I think, has an option that uses both ends of the trucks pre wiring and gives you a standard video output cable to then run down into the aftermarket head unit. Of course as mentioned Already you can just buy a generic camera and run the new cable all the way from the tailgate to the dash if preferred and save a few bucks.

I’m leaning toward the aftermarket head unit with OEM harness connections because the price of the mirror isn’t much less than a nice head unit and you end up with better sound in the process.
Open to suggestions as I haven’t purchased the parts yet!

ohm your wires. i had the plugs at both ends also, but as mentioned, i'm missing a section of harness in the middle.

a couple years ago, i did the cheapo Amazon camera/monitor in the sunglass setup, but i couldn't ever get the camera to point low enough to see the hitch and i'm short, so the seat is so far forward that i had to pull the monitor out of the holder and angle it to see. since then i've picked up a nice headunit made to be a reverse monitor. i may change to the handle set up above and wire it to the head unit through the external switch i already installed

Try Camera-Source. I bought a plug and play mirror display and a tailgate camera kit that worked great for my 2010 DC. Mirror plugged into mirror connector up in headliner/overhead console, the tailgate camera plugged into the connector pictured on the right side of the photo above. I called with a few questions which were answered with great detail. Not bargain basement China pricing, but good quality mirror and better than OEM camera in an OEM tailgate latch. Instructions were very easy to work through. Mine worked without a flaw and I really liked the in mirror backup LCD display. I didn't think I'd like the mirror since it's small, but I changed my mind since the image was good resolution and more natural to use versus looking at your dash for the display. I could back up to my boat or snowmobile trailer hitch and align most times just having to get out and drop the hitch first try.

Oh, and 09 I believe was the last year of the flip down LCD. I think the overhead console changed and display went to the mirror. I know I couldn’t get the flip down for my 2010 and ended up going with the mirror Display.

just a heads up that grade does not mean work truck, bench seat and column shift. i have a grade cm 4x4 with bucket front seats and console shift. but it does mean no bells and whistles. which for me was ok because i prefer whine so i installed a supercharger. lol.

my 08 grade did come pre-wired so all i had to do was buy the oem camera integrated into the handle and the oem display. all plug and play from there.

I have the 2012 Tundra with the connection underneath. I have the mirror with the camera plugged in. I need the harness that goes from the camera to the plug. Anyone know where I can purchase this?
