    Hello,

I am a NEW to me Tundra owner. waited 3 years for my 2010 Single cab, Long bed 4.6L 4wd to go to auction and finally got it. had it shipped up from North Carolina only to find the front frame section where the bumper bar mounts is completely rusted and gone and the power steering rack is no longer bolted to the frame as there are no mounts anymore! ugh. So I Knew Toyota was replacing frames. Thought i could order one. only to find out it has been discontinued and there are no new frames to be had anywhere in the country!!! I am going to have to buy used...OK. I am a vehicle dealer (have a motorcycle biz) I can buy a wrecked one at auction and use the frame and part out the rest....at least that WAS my plan...

Come to find out that my config is a pretty rare one. I cannot find another single cab, long bed, 4.6L, 4x4 truck anywhere. I CAN FIND...a 2010 V6, 2wd reg cab long bed. half dozen of them in fact. BUT. they have different part numbers so SOMETHING is different. Likely just different brackets, cross members something like that. something I can work around but I am trying to find out 100% for sure before i invest in another project.

On the TIS I found the crash rebuild dimensions for the frame. for the reg cab long bed, short bed, double cab and extended cab versions. they list all the frame mount dimensions for checking straightness etc. but they do not show things like transmission mount locations, engine mounts etc the stuff i need. they don't differentiate between 2wd and 4wd or V6/v8 etc etc.
I even found auction pictures of the BOTTOMS of a 2wd and of a 4wd versions and from the bottom side they look exactly the same. but I cannot see everything I need...

Has anybody been down this road before? anyone have any salvage yard interchange info? I have been to multiple dealerships and talked to every part expert i can find and no one can tell me exactly what the differences are...

Here is a scanned photo of the underside of a 2010 4.6L 4wd. you will note some distortion in the photo as this is taken by pulling a 4 wheel cart under the vehicle and if the motion is not 100% smooth, there will be some compression/stretch. but the important thing is the specific items, bolts, holes you can see.

this photo is from a 2010 reg cab long bed V6 2wd for comparison. if you compare the 2 pictures. you will see they look the same.

Here is a 2nd photo from a 2013 reg cab long bed V6 2wd. this one is important as the skid plate is not there and you can see the front sub frame sections

There's another thread on here about buying individual frame parts from Toyota, and repairing what you have.

If you can't find an interchangeable entire frame, worst case you could buy two new frame rails, cut and install the front section as needed.

Then add the relevant cross members and such, and your entire front part of the frame would be brand new. A lot of work, but not really when you consider the time to replace the old frame entirely.

Thanks, I saw that thread and a guy commented. my frame and frame sections have been discontinued. I CAN still get cross members and the like. But cannot get a whole frame or even frame rails or any part associated with the frame rails new. I am going to have to buy a used frame and Frankenstein it together. but before I buy something that is not the exact same. I was hoping to do as much research as possible.
