I own a 20' SR5 with the Sports package with 50k on it. I want to get a 3" lift kit with new wheels and 35"s.

What does adding a 3" lift kit with 35" tires do to the life expectancy of the truck? is it still probable to get over 250k miles on it? Is it better to just put in a leveling kit with bigger tires?

I have never seen a post about a Tundra with over 250k miles and has had a lift kit on it.

I drive mostly high-way and have not done any trails.

    Thank you for your responses!

It wont do anything to the truck that wouldn't eventually need repair anyway. It may accelerate wear on some parts but those are all items that wear out and need replacement over time anyway. At 250k most of the suspension and plenty of steering components will be past eligible for replacement.

You dont see a lot of trucks over 250k lifted primarily because the typical US driver logs about 12k miles annually, so it'd take about 20 years for the average driver to hit that mark. Look in the 1st gen section and you'll find the high mileage lifted trucks.

Get the kit you want, enjoy the truck.

I wish I logged 12k annually...lol Just bought a 2022 Camry hybrid to add to our fleet and just hit 14k in 3 months, but at least my Tundra sits now.

So, in general, if I go with a 3" lift with 35" tires I should not see any major damages to my truck that I would normally see when stock (outside of normal wear and tear)?

I'll be checking out the 1st gen section for more information.

There's no real need to add aftermarket wheels to an otherwise stock vehicle yet you see them everywhere. why?!?

just saying, if you get the right spec wheels, you don't need any lift to fit 315/70r17s

Oh man, well before this totally derails I think the point was that we all (or at least the majority of us) make cosmetic modifications to our vehicles in addition to true utility based mods. Think its pretty safe to assume OP isnt just after larger tires on a stock setup,. From a cosmetic perspective thats not going to appeal to many. Maybe we can welcome OP to this forum with well thought out responses, example: @Elduder, without turning this into a d*ck measuring contest.

The only observation I might add here is that when you @PapiShields add 3 inches of lift you may be starting down a rabbit hole of new UCAs, transfer case and diff drops that may significantly increase your mod expense. If you can keep it around 2.5 in lift and under you are less likely to run into these issues. Every truck seems to be a little different tho.

Some lifts can just suck and dramatically screw up the comfort of your ride but they look cool but just don't do anything to improve the truck. If you do a lift I don't think it will have much of an influence on the life expectancy. I would suggest that when doing a lift one weighs considers function before the cool factor and do a lot of research. It looks like that is what you are doing. Good luck.

Lift quality is a factor. Buy once cry once, but I also think installation is key. If your installer is crap you're gonna have issues.

I put a Toytec 3 inch coilover lift with 35s at around 800 miles on the truck. Just crossed over 100,000 no problems at all.

a person asking about changing the look of their truck is hardly uncommon which is why i mentioned it. If you want to talk about "hater-aide" maybe consider if shaming OP for asking a simple question about a lift and the answer he got was cool?
He asked about a lift and the effect... not whether he needs one based on OP's personal use.

correct. I’m lifted in 35s and we did not even hesitate to take it on a 2200 miles road trip in the beginning of summer.

I have a 7-in lift on 35 and pull a 28 ft camper this summer 2000 miles with no problems. The lift and tires have been on for 20,000 miles now no issues. If you tow you might want to look at a transmission cooler that being the biggest issue with 35.

FYI you can also fit this size tire under the bed in the factory location on the factory spare rim

I am going to have the best day ever thanks so much!
However, it doesn't change that your question wasn't helpful. He asked if a lift causes premature wear on the vehicle, not if he needs a permission slip to lift a truck, regardless of use.
Aside from that, i didn't say anything about being better than anyone or anything relating to it. Now you're just being butthurt lol.

I had to get a BMC to fit 35’s on my 3” lift on my 2017.

I’m admittedly ignorant to how all the options work since mine came with a 3/2 leveling kit though. Could be because it wasn’t a “real” lift.
