I'm curious to hear what the pros and cons of what each setup comes with? As well as what you folks prefer to run? Please do not attack each other as this is an open friendly discussion..

    20” wheels for show.

17-18” wheels for off road go.

    Responses will be as follows:

People that have 18" = you have more sidewall and rubber for off-roading, especially when aired down. More tire size options, lighter weight.

People that have 20" = They look awesome, no difference in ride or off-road capabilities. Plenty of tire sizes, weight doesn't really matter.

    Haha :bananadance::boink::crapstorm:

But in all seriousness coming from a guy that's had both. It really is personal preference, I truly believe that 90% of Tundra owners don't off-road seriously enough to reap the true benefits of arguing the sidewall debate. Also believe that the weight difference effects MPGs so minimally that it doesn't matter and if it does matter then maybe you shouldn't be driving a Tundra

Shouldn't 35" tires for 20 inch wheels be lighter than 35" tires for 18 inch wheels since its less rubber material?

The whole air down deal is regional IMO.

Here in the south if you hit a rut wrong and your aired down you knock your bead off unless using bead lockers. The swamp mud doesn’t require air down but more so height and width (High center). To each their own (Or region). Not everyone crawls rocks in the US.

For as ride comfort … it’s overrated again IMO. Cornering/handling and ride comfort are subjective agin by load rating, tire type, and PSI more so than 18 vs 20.

I was specifically talking about the weight of the wheels. But for your question, most tires in 35 inch sizes are load range E and 55+ pounds each so the what does it really matter.

    My E-rated 33" tires are sixty-six pounds.

Wheel weight? I'm sure the 20" weight more.

It's a matter of preference really, perhaps also looks and availability of the product.

Im on a 17" with a 32.5 going to a 34. I am in the 18" wheel camp for you, on or off road. Unless you never go offroad.

The more side wall acts more like a cushion while off roading having a smaller diameter rim will also keep your rims further away from obstacles and things that might damage them. it all comes down to personal preference and what build your going for I'm currently on 33x12.50R20s and I'm on that dilemma my self weather or not to get 35's for my 20's or get 18's and 35's.

I'll be honest If I had the money, I'd switch to 18's or 17's. But I do use my low profile tires in different terrains just fine. But also my build has changed 5 times and the 20's are result from the 1st when I was going OEM Bull Dog look.

The 20's look like a lot of wheel to me on that truck.

I’m not going to argue one way or another. It’s what you like and what you are happy with. For me it’s 17” and 35’s. I did attach a picture for reference while I was making the switch from 20’s to 17’s

IMO 20's and 35's are best looking combo for these truck. Perfect balance of wheel and rubber I think. Here is my truck with 20's and 34's. I think I'll move up to 35's when these need to be replaced.

I can’t comprehend a 20” wheel on a 4x4, but it’s obviously very popular. Now if you’re running 40s or 42s then maybe. I’m a 17” wheel guy. I could do an 18 but I think most of the available 18” offsets look wimpier than a 0 offset 17. Gimme a wide offset and a meaty sidewall all day long.
