3D archery shoots

I like to go to 3D archery shoots. I usually shoot a recurve or longbow. Been shooting them for around 20 years. Before that I shot compound. This year I started playing around with a compound again. These are just a few of some nice setups.

 

Thought I would add some more pics.

 

Recurve and compound I’m shooting now. Browning cobra and Hoyt rampage. If some of you shoot 3D, what do you shoot?

 

I used to shoot 3D trad events a number of years ago. Need to get back into it!

 

I barely got into it a couple years ago on the basic recurve. Gonna have to put mine back together since I have it stored.

 

Two home made life size targets at the Carlisle Fish & Game club in PA.

 

A few weeks ago I was at a traditional 3D shoot. 1st shot I missed the apple. 2nd shot I got the apple. 3rd shot I got the vitals. All shots were around 30 yards. I did miss a few targets on that course.

3D shoots are gonna start soon. Any of you looking forward to 3D season? I’m not into the indoor 3D. I like walking through the woods/ fields to each target. I’ll go to some traditional shoots, but I’ll shoot the compound most of the time due to arthritis in my hand. Have no problems when I use a wrist release. I upgraded my accessories on my Bear Legit. I want to put a drop away rest on too. I also have a goal of 10 different clubs for 3D shoots.

 

Did my 1st 3D shoot of year today with the compound, Bear legit with a lot of upgrades. They setup 15 stakes with 2 stakes at each target due to ice. I did good except I missed low at a 32 yard skunk. The photos is from the last target at 40 yards. I hate this target due to where the score rings are.

 

All stock Centerpoint Sniper, 70 yards freestanding, 2 out of 3 bolts hit the 1x1x1 cube.



Installed a trigger kit and put a Nikon XB-1 scope, much better shooting experience. This is shooting over 100 yards w/ bipod. Could not see the target due to curvature of the hill, was shooting from the truck.





It's freaking accurate and almost noise-free. Chipmunks around just freeze for a second and then do they deeds like nothing happened. Try to shoot a subsonic .22 and they're gone.

 

Crossbow came a long way. Years ago they were really noisy. One guy used a crossbow at a 3D shoot. It almost sounded like a gun going off. They had to lay the target on its side to pull the bolt out. That’s how we caught up to them.

 

Shot Dino today. Used my Bear legit with all accessories being upgraded. Including a custom string n cables.
