A lot of the newer trucks are having the 3rd brake light camera. I often pull a gooseneck trailer or pull bumper trailers and being able to easily see the gooseneck to hitch up would be great. Also if you have 4-wheelers or hauling cargo in the bed would be nice to be able to keep an eye on while going down the road. I know there are wireless remote magnetic base cameras out there for over $300.00 but I am curious for a more permanent less costly idea. There are aftermarket 3rd brake light cameras for Chevy and Ford trucks but nothing for a Tundra. Has anyone attempted or are working on plans for a mod like this?

I’ve got a Compustar dash camera, it records the road in front of me when driving and I’ve got a second camera hooked to it which records activity in my bed, this is also used for security when parked. The bed mounted camera is mounted on the inside of the truck, just above the rear window. If I had a gooseneck, I could use it to hitch up lickiddy-split.

Or if you’ve got an aftermarket stereo with an open “video in” input, you can buy a camera on Amazon for $17 and hook it up anywhere you want. Just hooked up a front one to my pioneer...

Kill 2 birds, get one of the best featured budget front/rear dashcams and turn on live view with a vent mounted smartphone to see what’s going on behind you.

Those are some great ideas. I will look into all of them. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.

Very interesting. I did not know premade connectors were available for those types of mods. Thank you so much. The list of available options are growing. Thanks very much.

I skimmed through the video, but how does it connect to the rear? I noticed you can stick it to the glass but if people have a CM and the glass rolls down all the way is there an option for it to adhere/place on the ceiling of the cab(kinda like the photo above in post #2)?

I have the beat sonic camera switch for a front camera (same as the frac mod). I finally decided today on installing a 3 way audio/video selector in the dome light housing and plan to have it allow for me to select between front/bed or a camera on a trailer. It will primarily remain on front but will be nice to be able to switch it to the bed when I have something in the bed I’m afraid of blowing out or something. Always nice to be able to check on things while moving.
