The center console (arm rest) in the new Tundras are so poorly thought out. No lid means you can't store anything there if you want to actually open it, and you only have about 3" of space to rest your arm.

I've seen the insert with a lid, but has anybody found anything to completely cover the center console arm rest area with something padded? Or replace the lid with something that doesn't have the trays in the top at all?

I can’t tell if I’m an idiot or I have no idea what you mean. I’ve not found any issues with the arm rest and I store lots of stuff in the console.

I mean the trays on the top/middle of it if that makes sense. Under the arm rest is fine :)

You need the Platinum console cover (or Pro, 1794, Capstone). I know exactly what you mean. I’m 6’4 and my arm/elbow rest right in the middle if not on the other side of the arm rest. I drove a limited for two days and that was my biggest gripe compared to my Platinum. I don’t know why ALL the tundras don’t came with that lid over the middle to make the whole top flat. I also store a bunch of small items in there that would get lost in the actual console (nail clippers, tweezers, pens, etc.

    YES!

Can you post a photo when you get a chance? I *think* I found a part number but it seems to be for the entire arm rest/console assembly and it's $600 o_O

I see what you mean. I do remember having a slight issue right off the cuff with things sliding out of the little trays, but I put inserts in them pretty early on that took care of a majority of the issues.

For better storage and space inside of the console, I did model and 3D print some custom fit partitions/inserts that fixed the other issue.

Yes, you can store items in the center trays. They conveniently get moved to the back floorboard when you need to open the console. You must have really long arms, I'm 6'1" and my right arm rests naturally on the padded drivers side of the center console.

I've looked into 3rd party covers for the trays but the reports are that they are cheaply made and rattle. I ordered a set but the post office lost it and I never bothered to retry. I would also be interested in the OEM lids if you can find the part number and they are reasonably priced.

[IMG] Mine is fine, there is a cover over that center portion. I carry a camping pillow that I throw on the top on long drives as I usually rest my elbow there.

Plenty of generic neoprene armrest covers on Amazon that will fit.

    NOT a door.
Just a decorative cover for those trims that already have the door.
