OEM is great if you wanna pay the price. If not, a lot of people use stall mats from like Tractor Supply

Agree on the OEM bed mat. Fits good, I don't think great, but good enough. What is best about is that it's not slippery, not sticky, just right to keep things from sliding around. There is a thicker brand out there, maybe fine if you put heavy and hard/sharp items in your bed, but the 1/4 inch OEM mat does the job IMHO.

Have an OEM mat, very sticky in a good way.
Put family visitor’s luggage in at the airport, was difficult to slide in. Didn’t move in the 60+ mile drive home. Happy I purchased it.

Having lived with the composite bed in the Tacoma for nearly a decade before +1 for the OEM bed mat.

Depends on your use case but for me with a tonneau where I use the bed mostly like a big trunk a Bedrug is perfect. I lay down a tarp or plastic sheet when I need to load anything messy like dirt, gravel, mulch. But if you do that routinely the OEM mat would be a better choice, even though the Bedrugs come out easily enough for cleaning. Also, Bedrugs aren't ideal of you leave your bed uncovered as they can blow out. They come with adhesive backed Velcro strips that should keep them in place but I don't bother with those since I have a tonneau.

Yup..love the way the full Bedrug install went. Took all tie downs and rails off, installed and remounted everything and makes it look almost glued on tight.

I just did the bottom Bedrug. I wanted to keep access to the rails and have it come out easier for cleaning. That worked in my Tacoma for many years. That full install looks pretty cool, though.

I still use all the OEM rails and hooks, they are mounted on top of bedrug. As far as keeping clean they tend to clean fairly easy unless some type of liquid and they dont do well with chemicals!

Another vote for BedRug. Cheaper than the OEM mat and a better product, IMO.
I have the BedRug XL that also includes the tailgate and seals the tailgate hinge.

I like my Black Armour bed mat to protect that composite bed. It is probably a 1/2"thick. There should be some coupons available. Like you, I wanted to protect the composite bed. TBH, I had a composite bed in my Tacoma. I abused that truck way more than it deserved and never had an issue. Having said that, it sure would suck if it were to crack. That's why I purchased the Black Armour.

Don't mean to hijack this thread...but what about something on the tailgate? It's really rough on knees getting in and out of it?

See my above post about the BedRug XLT. It covers the bed & the tailgate. I recommend it. You can also get the tailgate only option.

I been debating what to do as well. A couple times a year I put a 200 gal plastic water tank jin my truck. My concern with Bedrug is it won't recover from it and it will damage the velcro under bedrug.

Same. Another vote here for the Black Armour mat. Very heavy duty. All depends on your use case though.

Tried to purchase Black Armour direct from them and sold it to me and then refunded me as they didnt have any instock. Where would you guys recommend to purchase the Black Armour matt? They said they were getting away from selling directly to the public.

I own a metal manufacturing company so I need the 1/2" thick option as I think that the 1/4" OEM option will tear with all the metal that I throw in my bed. Didnt really want the bed rug.

    Please help me out.

    Thanks

I bought my bed mat direct from Black Armour, but I used AutoAnything for my running boards and was happy with their price and service.

I really with more companies made it for the 6.5 bed. I can find the Toyota one and the Bed Rug, but pretty much all of the others are for the 5.5, only.

I have the Toyota bed mat coming with my truck when I pick it up, it has the spray in liner which I’m covering up with the bed mat

does anyone have a solution for the tailgate, as far as rubber mat deal to match the bed?

I bought the gator mat from realtruck.com. . No fancy logos or designs but not bad for 100 bucks. Idk what the oem costs though.
*edit* and it actually fits great.
