    Hello
I am in the market for a new Tundra, but fuel tank seems smallish? Any suggestions?

22.5 Was fine on my drive to Florida this weekend. If I really need to carry 10 more Gallons, I can get some of those kewel Overlander Fuel tanks to hang off the back of the truck. Reminds me too much of a Pinto, though.

If you get a gen 3 crew max/long bed it comes standard with the 32 gallon tank. Or you can select it as an option when building a different body configuration

as of today on our 2023 platinum 4x4 5.5ft non HV, i am avg 8 days between fill ups, 1.8 gals day, 203 miles between fill ups = 13.6 mpg per fill up across the last 8 fill ups.

on our 2018 platinum 4x4 5.5ft v8, avg 8 days between fill ups, 1.9 gals days, 176 miles between fill ups = 11.7 mpg per fill up across 249 fill ups.

The 32 gallon tank is what you want if you are going to tow anything substantial. Otherwise you'll be looking for fuel every 150-200 miles and depending where you are at, that could be a big issue.

here are my hard stats of 2018 vs 2023. so running a 38 gal vs 32 gal tank doesnt make it feel i miss the extra 6 gals. i have noticed that going from "F" to "3/4" mark takes quite a while compared to "1/2" to "1/4" which does in about half the miles.

    1st pic is the 2018 @ 249 and 2nd pic is 2023 @ 8

funny fact, i had a $1.699 per gal price at one point on the 2018

you can verify the stats at my fuelly link since my app auto updates fuelly.

Wow, pretty poor MPG. I can't recall your use case... lots of short trips? My worst tank has been about 17 MPG and best around 21. Non HV. On road trips I take the fuel level at least down to the light... which leaves 6 gallons remaining... but locally I fill up when I need about 20 gallons since that is the max to which my grocery store rewards will apply.

short trips to work 2 miles 1-way and 1 or 2 x 10 mins remote starts twice a day during winter didnt help at all. the big trips we get 16 or 18 mpg driving to fargo and back.

and ND winds are constant 15-25 mph daily. most of the time its always a head wind regardless coming or going it seems.

Should make the bigger tank standard. The small tanks range is too low particularly given the quote large reserve on these tanks

I’m in the same boat. 2023 crewmax SR and the tank size is too small. Especially when I’m towing. The larger tank is available on part list. And there’s plenty of empty space under the truck. I don’t see why it can’t just be a swap and re calibrate the gauge. That’s actually my next project that I’m looking into. I’m sure there’s people here with more knowledgeable tho

Indeed. I did a road trip last couple weeks, 1011 miles each way to FL and back. Did the drives straight through with one gas stop. And it wasn't even close. Makes it easier to use the roadside rest areas for quick pit stops.

Just got my 23 platinum a month ago. I looked through a ton of trucks before getting mine, 32gallon.

Seems like in Texas, there are barely any trucks with the smaller fuel tank. All the ones I came across are 32g ones.

Retrax. Uptop AFS bed rack. Condor XL. Dobinson rear springs. BFG 35/12.5/r18. BD light bar and ditch lights. Prinsu roof rack. Diode dynamics fog upgrade.
Any updates? Would like a larger main tank for my 3rd gen. For overloading. Emailing Long Range America to see if they are working on a 3rd gen version.

32 gallon tank on my 2023 Limited. I get 500+ miles out of each tank. It's pretty nice.

People with 22 gallon tanks (like myself) instead of 32 like on limited and higher trims have exactly the same amount of space underneath the truck. My truck has all that empty space around my tank where 32 g can easily fit. It’s just a matter of saving a few bucks for Toyota and pushing people to buy higher trim. I can only get top 300 miles range out of full tank. Currently life situation doesn’t permit me to work on this problem but come summer I’m going to try to talk to some real Toyota mechanics to see if it’s possible to swap tanks and calibrate the fuel gauge

The 22 gallon fuel tank is standard on SR trim. The SR5 is available with the 22 gallon tank with the 32 gallon optional. Limited trims and above 32 gallon tank standard.

As they say in aviation: "The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire."

Works for me (38 gallon tank here and would not trade for anything smaller).

I came from a 2015 Tundra with the tiny 20 gallon tank and about a 300 mile range, so the 32 gallon tank and 500 mile range on my Gen 3 is a huge improvement. The only problem is my wife's small bladder won't allow us to burn a full tank before stopping on road trips.

Since 2007 Tundras came standard with 26 gallon tanks (not 20) and later added a 38 gallon option (not sure when) up until the 3rd Gen was offered.

I have the 32 gal tank but since the Distance to Empty and light comes on with 6 gal or so left it kind of makes the larger tank usless.

The largest single thing that turned me away from the AT4 was the 24G tank.

I'm trying to figure out how a 22 gallon tank filled up with 23.5 gallons at pump the other day.

I go by the odometer for long trips. I have measured the actual mpg and know how many miles I can go safely before requiring a fuel stop. So I ignore the low fuel warnings and fill up when I get close to 600 miles on the odo (38 gallon tank, 16.65 measured mpg on the highway).
