Need help and advice. I figured out on my own that my rear driver-side wheel bearing was bad and got a few quotes from Toyota dealers in my area. The price frightened me to get a second opinion from the dealer if it was the bearing and sure enough it's a bearing failure on the rear driver side. The best dealer quote is just over $1,300 Canadian. Truck has 93,000 Kilometres or 57,700 miles. I am kinda pissed that it has gone that early. Has anyone done a change on the 3rd generation? I did look into the other threads and did not see one for the newer version. Please help me. I don't want to fork out that kind of money and would prefer to do it myself over a weekend.
    Thank you.

I haven’t done it myself, but it is the same thing as the second generation if you’re looking for a write up.

How do you determine if your wheel bearing is failing? I have suspicion mine is about to go out.

First I noticed a sound going down the road like big truck tires, but I got Street tires on and then the slight grinding sound at low speeds. Jacked up the truck and gave all the wheels a spin. Back drivers side made the noise but had no play in the tire ( some times you can have play in the tire when the bearing is is really bad). Took the tire off and looked at the brakes and turned the axel hub and could hear it again. Clearly not the brakes and did not spin freely like the other tires.
