The 4.6 L V-8 is the second choice for a V-8 in the 3rd Gen Tundras but I don't see where Toyota or Lexus uses this in any other vehicle.

I wonder why? I think it would be great in a Tacoma or 4Runner (as well as several other possible models).

    Any thoughts?

The 4 runner used to have a V8 in it. Pretty sure it was the old 4.7L.

I don't think the 4.6 is very powerful nor efficient. Probably just offered as a stop gap.

Engine is used in the Lexus GX 460 and the LS 460, in the Tundra it is rated at 310hp and 327ft lbs of torque. Have one in my Tundra, runs great and I don't need to tow big loads so it's fine..

Well, the 4.6 has 310 hp vs. 271 hp for the 4.7 so it would be excellent in the Taco or 4R at least.

I’ve been saying this for years. I would’ve seriously consider getting a Tacoma if it came with a 4.6 L. Of course I have visions of grandeur wanting a travel trailer some day which is why I got the tundra. Of course there are many other reasons. But that Tacoma with the V8 would’ve fit my needs very well. And I bet it would’ve hauled ass too!

Yep, me too. I would have a 4.6 Tacoma in my garage rather than the 2018 5.7 that is in there now.

I do not regret my purchase, totally love the Tundra but it is a bigger vehicle than I need in a practical sense. After six months of ownership I am still learning how to park the danged thing, sometimes have to make 2 or 3 tries at it...

Haha i’ve been driving big trucks for years and I still get out and see if I’m completely centered in my parking space. And I will irritate the shit out of my wife and hop back in just to scoot over 2 inches.

I used to do the same thing all the time . Get the FRAC set up and it will save you lots of time and aggravation. When I pull into a parking lot I flip on the front camera and line it up with the stripes .

Yeah I want one of those. I’d like it to be plug-and-play. There’s so many things I want to do I just have to pick and choose what I do next.

Agree that Toyota should offer it in the Tacoma and 4Runner. They won't, though.

Does the 4.6 have the cam tower leak issue like the 5.7? I have the 5.7 now but for my use I think the 4.6 would be fine if I get another one.
