400 miles - Brake Squeal

Unbelievable.

It’s one thing when it squeals in reverse at high mileage after burying it up to the frame rails in hog guts and mud, but this thing hasn’t even gone down a gravel road yet.

Does look good sitting there. Mine makes a little noise after sitting all week in garage when I back it out. But that is it.

 

My neighbor has a 23 and in the morning his brakes squeal like mad when he’s backing out of his drive.

My Gen 3 brakes have never squealed. They have got hot and shuddered, though. Disappointing since the factory brakes on my previous Tundras were perfect and lasted a long time. I expect to swap my Gen 3 brakes out to the best aftermarket option available at around 40K miles.

I'm curious, are you guys who are experiencing squealing brakes in high humidity environments?

 

Same with mine usually after sitting. Daily at the very least. Dealer couldn’t reproduce at my 5k service even though I provided video. Days later, I read about a TSB back to May send it to my two service advisors and of course no one responded. Maybe at my 10K I just turned 7k

 

Seriously! I just hit a f250 tow mirror last Thursday with mine because he wasn't in his lane. Dont see me posting like a little girl. Oh shit I got more boo boos than eurodriver now.

Most with this problem change the pads and problem solved.

Is that a 2024? I would have hoped Toyota would have applied the TSB on the 22-23's to the new ones leaving the factory.

Time for your warranty to get tested.

Take it in before you start cutting holes for bigger tires though.

 

The TSB covers all model years. 2022-2024.

The dealer needs to give you updated front brakes with the shim kit. Mine hasn't made a noise since the TSB was done. They have to order the parts to be installed on a later date.

About what?

 

Mine squeal loud enough to wake the dead every morning when backing out of the driveway. Quite embarrassing on an 8 month truck with 9400 miles on it. It started around 5000 miles. My son's Tundra does it as well, he has 8500 on the odo. We live in the Phoenix area, so not humid, but hot as balls. Of course it started during the cooler months

Lastly, Eurodriver, that bad boy needs bigger meats! Reminds me of my brother. 6'2", 300+ lbs, and a size 9 shoe. Looked like he was walking on peg legs!

 

Mine have squealed since day one (still only on the first reverse of the day). I just took the truck in for the 5k service and provided video of the squeal. Hearing the squeal from the outside is way worse than hearing from inside of the truck. The dealer ordered parts but they are currently backordered and have no ETA.

To anyone with an issue, just bring it up to the service department. I also had a passenger side windshield washer jet that wasn't fanning out properly. They replaced it and now I can spray the entire windshield.

 

Mine squealed like hell only in the morning when I left my driveway. Echoed through the entire neighborhood. But they didn't make a sound any other time. I back in and my driveway is at an angle. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the parking brake engaged overnight or not. I took it to the dealership for its 30K service and told them about it. They said they couldn't recreate it but they cleaned up the pads and rotors and inspected them. It hasn't happened again....yet.

They changed the Front Rotors and Pad Part numbers in addition to shim kit.

Been waiting on the pads and rotors for almost 2 months now. Dealer service department has no clue when they will be available.

Don't know about the rest of you, but in my limited experience with Toyota service, the truck has just over 12,000, they suck! We've been to the shop 4 times now and I'm still getting the run around about the driver-side front strut making all kinds of noise.

A number of years ago I owned two Landcruisers back-to-back and never had a problem one with either of them. Now I'm in the shop 4 times in 12,000 miles.

 

Brake Squeak -- Is this an issue or norm?

 

I'm getting this TSB done under warranty right now. Just told the dealer that it squeaks occasionally and they got me scheduled.

 

My Dealer did this TSB at 12k miles and daily squeak disappeared.

Finally, at a different dealer in Asheville NC and they have ordered the parts for the TSB - thank goodness.

 

Mine was just in last week for the seat panel replacement, which they had to order and took 3 weeks to arrive. I told them about my brake squeal, they said they ordered all the parts, but some were on back order with varying dates of arrival. All except the grease, which is supposedly super secret special grease, that they have no ETA on. I guess Toyota is having a key shortage and a grease shortage. Makes me wonder how many years it will take for you folks to get new engines.
