5.7 headers on a 4.6?

    The design of the 5.7 headers seems superior to the 4.6 log style.

    Will they bolt up?
    Will the front pipe from the 4.6 fit?

    I know aftermarket headers are available but if I can fine a cheap set from a wrecked 5.7 it might be a mild upgrade on the cheap

    Do the engines share the same exhaust manifold gaskets?

    That would be the easiest way to check if they are different or the same. order a gasket of each engine size.

    yes it looks like the manifold gaskets are the same part for both 1UZ and 3UZ

    That would lead me to believe they should fit. Just check to see they are about the same length to the exhaust.

    me too, but the problem is that the front pipe(technically mid pipe) for the 4.6 and 5.7 are different part numbers and i cant find specs to compare the two

    it just seems to me that since the 5.7 headers are similar to most aftermarket designs they would be an upgrade

    I'm no exhaust expert, never even saw the 4.6 headers, just generally doubting Toyota would skimp on the 4.6 headers. It seems like it is pretty hard for aftermarket companies to make a more efficient exhaust for a stock setup, like Toyota made the system near perfect.

    Then again our trucks don't have an auto headlight feature, haha.

    Your best bet would be to find a cheap set of stock 5.7 headers and take them to a good exhaust shop or tuning shop. They should be able to fab up the rest of the piping to make it work. Pretty much the same thing as custom exhaust. Just all depends how much money you want to sink in it. I would probably leave it alone. Unless you are slapping a snail on it...

    What would you expect to gain with a different header setup ? Sound or power ?

    I would assume both, better flow would increase power and sound. I think im gonna go with a custom set of long tubes from DD

    I highly recommend short tube headers over long tube headers. Specially with an engine that has less power. You would gain proper low end power.
