Hi I need to know if anyone knows what solenoids are which and my main one I'm looking for is the reverse solenoid. I been trying to search and get the names for each individual solenoid but I can't seem to find it. I really need this one time help. Thanks everyone. The reason I've ask is I can't go into reverse and having difficulty with the tranny. I can only go forward but it's a bit laggie. Anyhow drain out the tranny fluid and it looks like old Mobil Oil. It does have mirco aluminum wear and tear from driving. This happened a few days ago and it was never like this be4. This happens right off the freeway and it was acting up. Had it park about 20min and came out to go back home and switch to R and no go. This cause me to think that my one of the solenoid had went bad. This is why I had asked

One of the problems with the tranny is that the insides of the solenoids wear and fluid leaks around the internal parts. That reduces pressure and as a result it doesn't operate correctly. If it was just one problem it could be an electrical issue but if you are having more than one and your fluid looked bad I would suspect that the valve body is worn. I could replace just it or replace the whole thing. If you do replace the tranny I would replace the torque converter too.

Weekendwarrior I was a transmision mechanic for 25 years now I’m a heavy equipment engineer Unfortunately what you described sounds like a transmision that has failed Reverse has no solenoid Reverse is applied mechanically and hydraulically by the selector shaft what happens when you go into reverse in the transmission is that the reverse drum is applied the forward sprag free spins Solenoids are their to help the transmission shift into gears it’s a bit more complicated than that but it’s the easiest way to understand it. The reason why it might have felt sluggish in forward is cause the transmission could have been in failsafe where it takes off in high gear and won’t shift it does that to protect itself from more damage unfortunately partner reverse is a mechanical gear when you loose it 99% of the time you will need to Rebuild that trans sorry

Check your fluid level 1st. If service hasn't been done, then start now. No need to jump to replacing parts until you adress basics.
