Probably not the best title but anyway. I have a question?

Lets say you have an sr5 with trd off road option. Now if you wanted to install bilstein 5100s and build them before install.
The springs that come on a non trd optioned truck would be different and not be able to be built on the bilsteins correct?
It would have to be a used setup off another trd truck correct?

In other words looking for cheap struts that i can tear apart and put the bilsteins in and ready to be installed before I do the swap

You will be fine using your springs and the 5100s. Your SR5 uses the normal Tundra coils. The OR package you have is the OR shocks, skids, etc, it does not add any special coil springs. You can use any standard Tundra coils that fit your year.

Just so you know, 6112s ride a bit better than 5100s and come with new coil springs, so that may be an option you may want to look into. Otherwise, just use your coils for the 5100s. If you need to purchase new coils anyway, I suggest the 6112s.

Thanks but I think I explained it wrong. In other words I know someone who has 2 complete struts off a non trd off road truck, I was thinking I can't use that setup and rebuild with 5100s and then swap out in my truck. I can buy for almost nothing.
I see so many different part numbers for
coil springs being used between the off road/ non off road/ standard cab/2wd/4wd etc... are you saying any and all could be used in my truck?

Coils rates can change between platforms FYI, example is the RW had different spring rates.

Spring rates also differ between configurations ie CM 4x4 vs 2wd, etc

I already have the 5100s but considered building them with almost new parts out of my friends truck. But my concern is the different spring rates. I was just trying to save time on the swap out when I do it

Ok so either I missed this point or it wasnt very clear.

If you want the same spring rate you have now, you'll want coilovers off a comparably built truck (cab configuration, suspension package, drivetrain).

The coils that come on TRD truck are no different from coils on SR5 truck. It's not so much about the package, unless it's a TRD pro. However, 2wd coils are different from 4wd coils. The 4wd springs are thicker and probably have more spring load.

On my dads 08 double cab 2wd. We removed the stock front suspension ( black shocks) and replaced it with factory bilsteins that come on TRD models and coils from a 2018 4wd. The 4wd coils are thicker and maybe slightly taller (wasn't there at the time of install) so it lifted the front end a bit, like 1.5". But another factor at play in this situation is that my dad's truck is a 4.0 and weights less than the same truck with a 5.7 so that is another reason for gaining lift

I, respectfully, disagree with what's in bold due to friends.
