I have an 02 SR5 4X4. The pin connector gets chewed up any time I go off road. Has anyone installed the connector anywhere other than the bracket that hangs down beside the trailer hitch? If so, any particulars on location, etc. would be appreciated.

I like that! Mine is mounted on the hitch, and I've torn it off twice by backing into a trailer.

    Thanks for posting.

Note: you do lose one of your plate lights, but the law only says it has to be lit. No biggy.

I did the same, but I rotated mine 180 degrees. It's much easier to align the pins with the cover flap pulled down vs trying to look under the cover flap.

The trailer plug and the receptacle is keyed. Auto aligns.

You are rotating the entire assembly. Keyed has nothing to do with it.

Subjective....and rotating 180 deg from the position @KNABORES has his installed creates more likely hood of weather intrusion....at the end of the day "to each their own"

Do you catch any flack from "law enforcement" about the lack of license plate light?

    I agree.

As person that hooks up a trailer 6 or more times a week, having that flap pivot down is a noticable improvement.

It's also easier to see if the safety post on the flap is engaged with the plug to keep it solidly inserted.

Do what you want. It's fine with me.
