Tested both before going with the Capstone. If you plan on light off road more than the average guy ? the Pro has a much better ride over the bumps but leans more in turns. . For street driving I found the Capstone more planted but I had to replace the 22" wheels for a more cushy tire immediately. I had to test both before signing. At $80 Ks a piece ,, can't really have any regrets after.

1794 fully loaded with the 6.5 with the black TRD wheels is the ultimate of both worlds and some. Just sayin.

No issues so far but I am a little over the board when is about keeping the truck clean.
The dirt seems to come pretty easy off

If you're going to use the truck (off-road, work, getting dirty etc.) then get the TRD Pro for interior color alone. Otherwise if you just DD the truck I'd go with the Capstone as I found that interior more comfortable, just put 17/18" wheels on it and you'll be good to go. You do give up some payload with the PRO so be aware, and Capstone has some nice comforts such as Heads Up display.

Well done Dexter L. Is there an upgraded suspension lurking in there too?

I agree with this. I don’t really much see the point of the Capstone trim as I don’t think it offers much over the 1794 or Platinum.

But you get a panda bear themed interior in the Capstone! Plus 22” wheels that will get bent if drive the truck on anything but perfectly smooth surfaces! What’s not to love?

I bought my TRD Pro about 4 weeks ago. The dealer offered to give me the Capstone cheaper than the TRD Pro but I couldn’t do it. I prefer a more equipped truck than a luxurious truck but I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

And that's why you bought what you wanted, The saddle bag color leather is a more practical & realistic choice IMHO.
There are 15 different things on the Capstone VS the 1794 and yes Panda or Storm trooper is one of them Lol.

There are 4 things I wish the cap offered,
    1. color matched door and gate handles.
    2. A 6'5" bed.
3.The 3" OEM lift isn't ompatible with the AVS.
    4. if your buying the top trim model you should abosofuckinglootly have the option/luxury of choosing your own interior scheme, but other than that I think it's pretty fucking sweet.

I ordered mine with the PVM + BSM tow mirrors which cuts back on some chrome and w/ towing theres no reason to buy "strap on" mirrors that try to match your existing ones and not to mention scumbags or crackhead will steal them.
The chrome isn't to excessive and there are only 2 badge spears on both doors none elsewhere not even in the cabin being embossed, embroidered reminding me what I purchased, thank God they didn't tattoo the Panda skin lol thank you Jesus!
As for the chrome, there is some brushed finished work on the back bumper and also on the grille which is good, it will hide the road love better than brilliant smoth chrome like the massive distinguished Foo Manchu on most models.
The front end & grille looks a bit more uniform I don’t have to go through the extra work of pulling the front end off painting whatever color to then have it chip off over time because I didn't have it baked after it was painted and before the 3 hits of clear coat went on.It also dosen't have those two big rectangular blocks on the upper potion of the grille and on(some models)the right-side has "Pro" embossed in it,which
makes me feel that if I go to Home Depot or any store that has Pro Parking I belong there with my free pass.because it says it right there on my truck.
So my Panda from build a Bear or Stormtrooper Star Wars Edition will be here in a week or so & I'm not to concerned about the whiteness of the interior because my kids are grown up and out of the coop,it's just me and my girlfriend.
I'm not hating on other models they just didn't have what I wanted that's why I had this built from the ground up color and all.

Coming from an SR5 5.5 guy here, that is my dream model right there.

1794 you could make a dump run and haul an elk carcass out of the woods on Saturday, then take the family to church and Grandmas house for dinner on Sunday. Fits in everywhere.

How much of a pain were the door handles to get rid of the chrome? Fighting the same fight on my limited.

watched the video, took me about an hour to do, then another 30 minutes to redo the passenger side doors since I forgot to clip the handles in. Not bad at all.

for the price though, had they been available, I’d order the covers off Amazon and spray them with color matched spray paint and stick em on!

Looked at a capstone and the HUD was a strong appeal, however that white interior killed the deal. Looked at and test drove a turkey turd tan mesquite 1794 HV also with white interior (text drove to see how the HV performed). Decided the interior & HV were both deal breakers.

As we were talking to the sales group the truck rolled in with a blueprint 1794 with the saddle brown interior & non HV. Signed the deal that evening at MSRP. :bananadance:

I get why the white interior was deal breaker, it was for us, too. But why was the HV a deal breaker?

As I understood (from the sales staff) it was more of a towing function (additional hp) and in addition was told any malfunction in the HV system shuts down the vehicle - won’t run on gas engine unless HV fully functioning. That seemed ridiculous to me.

I don’t tow plus wanted that under seat storage vs the battery, so increased cost for something I would never use was cost savings to me.

    '22 Tundra Capstone, Silver Metalic.

Only complaint: Radio knob, on #3 (they break), and the 22" wheels are horrible. I have aftermarket 18"s ordered from Toyota now, where I put my Toyota centre cap on. I am putting Michelin LTX Defender HWY tires on it and am told that will fix my ride problem.

I have 62,000 (KMS) on it in one year which is a lot. I have had the good fortune to have Yukon's, Tundras' a Suburban and even a Range Rover in the past 8 years. This is by FAR the best, most problem free, no nonesense vehicle I have ever owned. I will keep it for a few year and repeat. The only issue is the ride on the 22"s - its awful.

I do not understand why everyone does not drive a Toyota, honestly.

Capstones are like 8-10k off msrp so it’d be cheaper but resale is dookie. TRD pro is what I would choose. Capstone interior is enough of a deal breaker

Forgot - on the white interior:

    - Have a 1 year old Yorkie who sits on centre console, have two kids in various sports. Yup it gets a little dirty but cleans right up too. It was not my choice, but totally fine. it takes coffee spills, dog prints, sweat, etc. Just wipe and clean. A lot better than a peeling fake Gm leather interior...

For those who have a PRO what tires did you go with after the OEM? I blew one out and need a new set, Wildpeaks showed a lot of wear for 22k miles, so not going back with those, anyone go to an all season tire on the Pro and how did they look?

Wheels and interior were awful to me on the capstone, platinum ended up being perfect for me! Last tundra was rock warrior with off-road tires and suspension and I got tired of the rough ride.

Keep in mind the OEM Falkens are not the same as the Falkens at a tire store. I've run Wildpeaks on 3 Land Cruisers and my 4Runner and they are great.

The 22's aren't bad they just needed a little bit of side wall meat.
The original rubber bands they put on them are a prefect fit for "Grand Theft Auto" appearance or the best road conditions known to man.
They handled nicely on higher speeds while cornering or just higher speeds on the HWY but other than that I feel that they are not practical at all.I'll admit I like the appearance of them and once I dropped 285/55 on them the ride got a hell of a lot smoother especially in comfort mode.
I don't really mind the interior color scheme I wish that I could of had a choice but didn't happen, overall it has grown on me and the black roof ties it all in.The kids are gone so it's just me and my Lady who are clean and not so demanding on it and also mentioned previously the Semi Aniline leather holds up pretty damn easy to cleanliness so coffee and other normal shit that one would have in a cabin it's just fine.

The overall compliments I have received from different walks of life have told me this is the best looking "all around " tundra they have seen especially the interior which blew my mind,it's kinda like seeing a beautiful white leather couch in somebody's home with 6 kids one would just laugh and say yeah that fucking couch doesn't have a chance in hell of lasting one year...

As for the radio knob I've gone through one and refused to folding and buying one from AJT for $200, I would get more satisfaction buying another pair of Costas for that price.
I will have a friend print me one when this one fails.
This has been the best truck I have ever purchased by far.
    Cheers :headbang:
