I have a totally stock 2015 TRD SR5 and soon it'll be time for new tires. I've run BFG ATs on all of my other trucks before and they seem to suit me just fine, so this is not a tire question. I also intend to keep the stock rims for whatever that's worth...

My previous truck was a 2012 Taco. I earned 3" with the OME Nitrochargers and Dakar leaf springs so I understand the benefits of a true suspension upgrade vs a lift kit. I simply cannot afford to do a proper suspension upgrade right now and that's why I'm looking at lift/levelling kits.

I'm not a hardcore 4 wheeler, but I like having a capable truck. I think I really just want to level it up so that I can put on slightly larger tires. I also use it to haul trailers from time to time so I don't want it too tall.

I've been looking at the TU3 kit from Toytec which is a 3" from spacer kit with a couple of options for the rear end including a 1" block and a 1.5" AAL. Either would give me the result I'm looking for at a good price.

I'm concerned about axle wrap with the block, but it seems like the chances would be diminished with a smaller block - is this true?

With the AAL the ride stiffness is a concern and new shocks are recommended.

Thank you for bearing with me this long.... Here's my question: AAL or 1" block in the rear? Which is the lesser evil?

Honestly the way to go (in my opinion) if you are looking at this kit, is to do the AAL's, reason being is that they will pitch the truck a little bit higher in the rear end (.5''- 3/4'') but when you do toss a load in the back it will then sit level.
The AAL's will firm up ride quality a little bit in the rear end, but will not be anything crazy or uncomfortable at all!

The blocks will not change ride quality at all but will give you the proper lift no problem.

    Thank you both!

I do haul trailers from time to time, and the truck is usually full of camping gear, MTB gear, boating gear, etc... So sounds like the AAL would probably be the better bet anyway huh?

Is there no concern for the new shock recommendation with the AALs tho...?

Your factory shocks will work, but I wouldn't recommend articulating all crazy.

If you want new shocks look into our BOSS shocks, extended travel, will work for 1-3'' of rear end lift and the valving will compliment the AAL perfectly.

Copy that! No articulating all crazy! I'm not much of a "wheeler,"which is to say I don't go looking for new and exciting ways to get stuck, but I do spend considerable time off the beaten path...

I will look into the BOSS shocks tho... Thanks!

I have the toytec boss kit with the extended shackles and I love it. Much better ride and performance on and off road. If you can afford it you should get it.

I was looking at the shackle link to swap out my 1" block, what mod do you have to do to the trd exhaust to make them work?
I have a pro suspension under mine with the 1" block now. Also do I need the carrier bearing drop was got to stick to the 1" setting.
Gravez sorry to jack your tread!
    Thx
    Mike

If it vibrates on acceleration from a dead stop then you should install carrier bearing spacers. .5"-.75" spacers will work. Just gotta find the sweet spot

So the TRD exhaust system runs right under the leaf springs and the shackles will push the leaf pack down on to the exhaust, you would either need to notch the exhaust pipe, re-run it, or heat the hanger up and re-bend it down a little bit to insure proper fitment.

That will work just fine, our carrier bearing drop will help eliminate that weird vibe you are getting.
