A hearty hello to all, been reading through A LOT of threads regarding A/C issues but didn’t see anything that matched my issue, so I wanted to toss this one up to the experts.

Just purchased a ‘17 SR5 with only 41k miles and an interior that still looks brand new. It was one of those deals you couldnt pass up!

It’s pretty hot in NM at the moment so I’ve only had the A/C on since I got it, but discovered the other morning that, while the blower control works and the A/C is ice cold, the temp and vent select dials don’t do a thing.
I’ve crawled under both sides of the dash to watch the servos while changing temp and vent settings and there’s simply no movement from anything; all servos and visible gears idle.

Everything I’ve been able to find seems to be one or the other, never both, so this has me wondering if my AC Amplifier is straight up dead? I think the operational blower can be explained by its location in the circuit between the battery and amplifier?

It’s also worth noting that the prior owner had some issues with rodents chewing on a few wires, which have been replaced, but is there a possibility they could have gained access to the hvac system and munched a wire without getting into the cab?

Thanks for any help, and attached a photo of the new truck in an attempt to counteract the wall of text

Welcome from another NM'er! If there was talk of rodents chewing wires it would be one of the things to hunt down concerning this issue. Hopefully you get it sorted out soon.

@panicman Thanks! It’s pretty darn clean for the year.

@armygreentundra You wouldnt happen to be in LA, would you?
The rodent damage seemed to be concentrated around the battery leads and havent been able to find any other damage, but will still continue visual inspection of everything I can.
With both functions dead I feel like bad servos is less likely than the AC amplifier module or wiring.

Wanted to provide a follow-up in case someone runs across this in the future..

After digging into the passenger side dash, it ended up being a freaking mouse. Little guy found his way down to the filter portion of the box, and instead of chewing through the filter, it chewed its way out of the plastic box!
In the process of doing so, it chomped the wiring harness to the blend door servo in half; since the servos are daisy-chained on that harness run, with the blend door servo being the first, it killed them all.
The icing on the mouse-$hit cake was catching the little guy in a live-catch trap . I couldnt find any evidence of the rodent still living in there somewhere, but set up a trap over night anyway as a precaution. Sure glad I did, because this mouse was HUGE.

Photos through the cabin filter slowly for your entertainment and my pain :annoyed:

@mgrs I think I simply reached the point of “f-it” and started disassembling the passenger side as, no matter the cause, I was gonna have to dig into the dash to fix the HVAC.
I did catch that little turd though! Was a fat one from dining on all that automotive grade foam insulation
