I thought I'd keep a log of what all I'm going to add to the truck

    • Cat Shield
    • Soft Top / Tonneau
    • Bed organizer
    • Running boards

The cat shield was finally installed today.

This one was more tricky becase I have a TRD skid plate.

It also didn’t help that Talon’s Garage doesn’t have an installation guide that would be specific for those that have the TRD skid plate. I did ask on a separate post for them to provide detailed instructions. They said they would, but they never came through. https://www.tundras.com/threads/welcome-to-talons-garage.113331/page-6#post-3209544 . Anyway, that’s my rant.

I had to bend the skid plate tab outward so the skid plate could sit flat below the cat shield.

I also added a stack of washers to the underside of 4 of the bolts of the skid plate for those areas to drop lower since the rear of the skid plate is under the cat shield. I'm actually not sure if this is a good idea. If I hear noise during my testdrive, I might take them off.

    Good thread idea:

    (1) Tailgate step, or ladder is a good option, it seems.
    (2) Running boards
    (3) Color matched fender Flares
    (4) for offroading, heavy duty skid plates
    (5) Grill mods
    (6) offroading fender
    (7) tow hooks on the front

Waiting for my RB30 Slim running boards. GoRhino keeps moving the delivery date. It's been 2 weeks.

I don't think those stack of washers are really required. I am not sure how much thread engagement you have now with them in place.

I also bought new bolts (M8 x 1.25) that are 1/4" longer than the old ones.

I was really concerned about the wind noise issue that have been reported so I bought cheap wind noise reduction fins before I took delivery of the truck. After 950 miles of mostly hwy driving, I can say my truck doesn’t have unusual wind noise at 70mph.

I still installed the fins a few days ago, just because I already bought them. I can’t tell if they’re making any difference.

I’m happy with wind noise levels of the truck.

Could be a weatherstripping issue too.

For me, wind noise is at acceptable levels. I also have the weather strip on the front edge of the doors that some 2022 models are missing.

The RB30 Slims finally got here after 3.5 weeks. I had RB20 slims on my previous tundra but prefer the RB30’s shape.

Where do you get these? mine has those on the sides of the headlight but no where else and was concerned about the wind noise and wondered if window vent visors would change the aerodynamics and create more noise. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for all replies !smileytn1

These are what I bought, https://www.ebay.com/itm/134526807034

I haven't really noticed any difference with them on. I have 2 on each side now but really can't tell if they're helping or creating more wind noise. I'm still happy about how quiet the cabin is.

    I hope this helps.

Haha. Yeah, a little power boost. But I think the magnets actually cause wind drag :)

Hi topdec.Just a Thought but aren't these type kinds of things supposed to be tested under lab conditions like a wind rain type testing scenario like fans and simulated conditions like the ones that check for windshield wiper lift at high speeds to see if they help or not?

Short answer is yes. The product I bought could be "snake oil". Definitely something that I bought just to try out for myself. As I said, I'm not sure if they're helping or making windnoise worse. The truck's noise levels are good.
