All i want to do is add some thump. So I want to add 1 or 2 subs in my 19 crewmax. I'm curious on what I need other than sub, box, and amp. I have installed plenty of subs and amps but never to a stock head unit with stock amp. I know I need something else to hook to the stock wires at the stock amp to power sub amp via rca cables.

Really want to jump on this but need some insight.

2nd tech12volts . You can get a complete package in whatever price range you want to stay in or he can build you what you want .

To keep the stock headunit you will need a digital sound processer. I believe James sets it up so it's good to go once you get it . Add an amp of your choice and you should be in business. There are some affordable 5 channel amps that fit well under the passenger seat .

There are some great builds in the audio video threads.

@james@tech12volts what is the price on a sound processor that's ready to go?

Would the LC2i 2-channel line out converter work?
I would tap into one of the speakers output side of the factory amp and tie it into the lc2i. Then run RCA cables to new amp. Is this correct?

Audio Control LC7I is a good option since it’s has the option to keep your bass from falling off with the volume increase from your factory head unit, $150 ish. Also if you want descent bass without building a box then the kicker hideaway works pretty well when you get it tuned in and it’s super simple to install.

I added a sub with dual JL 10'S and single channel 500 watt JL amp from JRT. I had to run power to the amp that I placed right next to the OEM amp and run speaker wire from the amp to the sub, but JRT makes plugs for every thing else, even adding the RCA jacks to the factory amp for the new amp. ZERO factory wires cut, leaving amp power wires I could remove everything in 10 min and have back to factory. best pic I got of amp.
PS- JRT is on vacation per Facebook with family in Daytona right now.

I'm wanting to leave everything and just add a new amp that powers the sub only. So am I correct that I need to get a line out converter and tap in to the outgoing +/- wires for one speaker and connect it to the LOC? Then run RCA cables to the new amp along with power from the battery to new amp.

2014-Up Toyota Tundra LOC w/Entune Harness
Be the first to write a review
This LOC/wiring setup is specifically made with a custom harness to plug-n-play with your 2014 and newer Toyota Tundra (except JBL). Choose from a 2-Channel or a 4-Channel LOC to connect your stock Entune stereo to an amp.

Scosche's LOC80 line output converter allows you to connect a receiver with no preamp outputs to an amplifier without speaker-level inputs. The LOC80 handles a speaker-level signal up to 80 watts RMS per channel, and converts it to a line-level signal you can plug into your amp's input.

I think you are correct. 40 dollars on tech12's site

Yes I felt better about it than cutting OEM amp wires, even though there are people that will show you what to cut to add the LOC80 that cost about $10 with out the amp harness. Will also help with quick removal if traded because you dont get that back, I can pull and reuse or sell.

Tom my copy paste skills on fire today!!

It looks like the LOC plugs into the headunit and makes an RCA out you would plug into your new amp. I'm curious how this will turn out. The stock system suffers so badly from the lack of bass, but the vocals seem to be good enough to wait on a complete upgrade.

no, the plugs you see are the two plugs going into the factory amp. My system hits nice and hard enough for anyone over 25 years old.

Yes you can tap into the factory harness or taco tunes makes a harness that’s plugs into the factory plugs at the factory amp. I unfortunately did not know about this option before I had the converter and amp installed and apparently the installer was not either so my plug wires were cut but this should work.

Yes if you want to use the plugs on the ends but if you are not using one of their amps then you can just clip those off and hardwire.

Guys, I’m in need of some help. So am I understanding correctly that I can buy the Taco tunes harness, and connect it directly to my new amp/sub?
I’m looking at a amp/sub combo from JL audio. do I literally need to plug in the harness to the factory amp, run it to the new sub/amp combo, run a power wire, and I’m good to go?
I don’t have to mess with the stock HU at all?

Get in touch with James from Tech12Volts. He will provide you the harnesses you’ll need and the gear you want. You have a few options but you’ll either need to do a DSP, LOC, or pick an amp that can accept high voltage inputs. Or replace the HU and skip all those which is what I ended up doing.

o, it looks like I can get the LC2i, with a harness from either Tech12 or Taco Tunes As long as I have both the harness and the LC2i, and can connect those into the new amp/ sub combo and be good to go?

Are you just adding the powered sub and leaving everything else stock?
