I added a previous version similar to this to my Tacoma many years ago. Paired it with a Rockford Fosgate amp. I am running it with an aftermarket Pioneer head unit but the other speakers in the truck are stock OEM and this woofer really filled out the sound. You won't win any window rattling contests, but it packs a surprising punch and fits almost anywhere. Not too $$, either.

Here is a thread with a few pics from way back when. This in my Access Cab Tacoma with the rear seats removed. Top of the sub now attached to the nearby LATCH point with a short strap and clip. Mounting would obviously be different in a 3rd gen Tundra.

I'm looking for the same thing. Just a couple small 8" subs if possible. I have a couple 8s already and an amp from a build I didn't complete on my last tundra. If anything I would like to find someone building a box that fits the crew max. MTI looks good but are there any other options? Not trying to highjack or anything.

It was re-written by the forums, the website is taco tunes dot com... without a space between taco and tunes.

Just a heads up.... TT doesn't have a great rep over on TacomaWorld. YMMV.

That's good to know, I am a DIY'er and would utilize the info they have posted and not their services/products. I'm thinking TheRooster is a DIY'er as well and could make good use of that info.

Yup I will not being using them. Tried some of their stuff in the past and was not impressed at all with the customer service.

Ive used their speaker brackets. Theyve responded and helped me with sizing. As far as I go, I have had a good experience.

Flip side is I use my own audio equipment: focal and jl audio speakers and subs.

If you’re just looking to add a sub for
Some punch, I went the route of using a powered pancake subwoofer under the rear seat. I added an amp and replaced all speakers too. Eventually changed the head unit as well. But if you’re not looking to rattle the rear view off, these are an option.

Tap the rear speakers for a signal, the subwoofer has auto on built in no need for a signal wire to turn on, find a spot for the ground wire clean bare metal.

I have done it to my other vehicles TACOMA, 4RUNNER not to the TUNDRA yet. They came equipped with premium audio package Non JBL. Check the forums TACOMA WORLD, 4RUNNER Forums and here in the forum. The kicker subwoofer is pretty good. Search there is plenty of info in the forums. If I find one helpful I will post it here.
