I've used the search tool and can't find a direct answer to this. I would like to add mirrors with the turn signals in them to my 2012 tundra grade rock warrior. I see parts on Amazon and the like with the mirror I want but am not sure if the wiring harness supports the signal function. Reading through reviews online I'm seeing that both; yes they fit and no they won't. Has anyone here added this aftermarket part or know if our oem harness will operate the signals within it?

I'm not looking to go with full on tow mirrors, aka boost, just want the replacement glass with the heated and turn signal function. Currently my oem mirror glass has the heated function, just not turn signals.

Thanks for any insight into this.

My stock mirrors did not have turn signals. I installed the Boost mirrors with turn signals and the signals worked fine using just the OEM harness. So, it's prewired. Enjoy.

The turn signal wires do go to the plug, but you have to figure out which two they are and tap into them.

I have not used Amazon mirrors, but I did add the Muth turn signal mirrors to both my 2013 and 2020 SR5 DC's. There are 2 wires that you will need to tap into. I was able to tin the wires with solder and insert them into the back of the plug and then zip tie them to prevent them from coming out. I have pics from my 2013 showing which positions to use but I will have to find them. I'm pretty sure that Casey's wiring thread will have that schematic as well.

My 2011 SR5 RCSB came with the standard heated and power adjustable mirrors. I stumbled into some Limited take-offs that additionally had the signals in the glass. My truck was prewired for the mirror signals.

You need to test these pins/wire with a DMM to see if your mirror plugs are getting a signal feed.

    upload_2024-1-4_0-8-1.png

Going to be N5 and M6 are your mirror plugs.
Pin 4 will be hot on/off for the signal, red on the left and pink on the right.
    Pin 3 the ground.
Turn on your 4 ways and give it a shot..

    upload_2024-1-4_0-10-28.pngupload_2024-1-4_0-10-52.png

On my 2014 they were not hot and I had to run my own wiring from the kickplate for my Muth mirrors.
If they aren't hot, you can look on Muth's install diagram.

I love, love, love, love my spotter mirrors.
Used them to replace my Muth mirrors on my 2014.
After getting the Hottail's rear LED kit that gives you an amber rear turn signal, I needed an amber arrow in my mirror instead of the MUTH red arrow.
    It's because I have OCD issues..

I love (did I mention that?) how the spotter mirrors cover the blind spots..

Might be TMI, but here are the Hottail tail lights with the Spotter amber signal mirrors....

This is what I need. I don't know how I missed it in your build thread which I've thoroughly enjoyed. Your rig is so sick. When I was looking to buy a newer tundra I was hoping a pyrite mica would fall in my lap, but buying used had always left color choice behind so many other priorities and I ended up with what I have instead. Thanks again for the idea on the mirrors.

Do you have a pic of these? How bright are the turn signals. Wondering if it's worth trying to find take offs or looking aftermarket.

I don't have any pictures of the signal while lit up. FWIW, they're amber, they're bright enough to be seen in the daylight by other drivers, but not annoyingly bright to the driver.

I also bought the Spotter mirrors. My stock mirrors were power adjust and heated. My truck turn signal wires ran to the connector that is inside the door, but they did not continue past that connector and into the mirror. I cut and soldered to the turn signal wires at the door connector and then ran the wires into the mirror housing and connected to the Spotter turn signal wires. Like 1lowlife , I really like the convex mirrors that are built-in to the Spotter mirrors.
    Ran the wires:

Interesting read. I have the turn signals in the mirrors so I just assumed this was a standard feature on the Tundra.
After driving my FILs 22 GMC AT4 recently on a full day highway trip, I loved the spotter/blind spot feature in the side view mirrors. I would swap my mirrors just to have that feature.

Just installed my SpotterMirrors over the weekend. Loving them.

Install was a learning experience, but it wasn't difficult. (This thread was actually a big help). I researched the install process as much as I could before removing anything.

The mirrors come with all of the wiring and connectors to put the mirrors together, but they don't include the connectors that go into the harness from the mirror to the door. It took a little googling around, but I found the male pin connectors that go into the mirror side harness (from Digikey).

Pulled the mirror assemblies off, removed the mirrors from the housings, fed the wires through (removing the little panels under the housings makes feeding the wires a LOT easier), inserted the pinned wires into the harness, snapped the mirrors into the housings, reinstalled the housings, connected the harnesses, then put the panels back on. Tested..... BOOM! The turn signals work great.

I had originally found these looking for blind spot mirrors. What's this? Turn signals too? And I get to keep my defroster functionality? Yep, someone is about to get my money. I have an SR5, so I wasn't sure if I was wired up to the door for the turn signals, but a little searching on here, and I had confidence that I was good to go.

No more autoparts store stick-on tiny blind spot mirrors. These things are awesome. Wide field of view, and big enough to glance at and still get a good idea if there is anything next to me and what their proxemics are to my vehicle. (I still look over my shoulder. That's a 40+ year, well conditioned habit that isn't going away). For the times when I have to leave from my Fortress of Solitude and venture into the city, I like to have every advantage that I can acquire to make navigating Austin-metro traffic (especially rush hour) a little more safe.

I'm very happy with my SpotterMirrors.

Man you're inspiring me. I've had these mirrors in my cart for over a year now. I need to get off my ass and pull the trigger. But that's hard to do when I already have a bunch of purchased mods that haven't even been installed yet. Maybe I should start a thread for all of those things...

I could call it my imaginary build thread. :anonymous:

There for a while, I had a "pile-o-parts" of new mods and maintenance items. New wheels, new grill guard, tonneau cover, SpotterMirrors, color matched mirror caps, new shocks and UCA's, spark plugs, and full set of rotors and pads. I'm down to just the rotors, pads, and spark plugs. My wife is pretty happy that I have all of the parts and boxes out of the garage. (She's still on me about the rotors).

The SpotterMirrors are fairly easy to install so long as you plan your attack. I did all of the wiring on the SpotterMirrors before I ever pulled anything off of the truck so that all I had to do was feed the wiring, plug it into the connector, and snap the mirror onto the mirror housing mounts.

I used these connector/wire combos to wire the mirrors to the mirror housing side connector. (The pins are tiny).
    https://www.digikey.com/en/products...bD6OO5l-LItzhO2YM8I6H-5zaPc01l7xKR0W5QBb0lapQ
I just clipped off the female end leaving enough wire to splice onto the mirrors wires, then inserted the pins into the back of the connector harness. You'll need 4 of those.

My 2010 Reg Cab regular everything came with plain black mirrors. I got a set of chrome signal embedded
mirrors and put them on, they plugged in and the big signal arrow worked. cool. No wiring required.

I should add I paid a whopping $75 for pair of mirrors and brand new still in bag carpets for MC.
Of the most prolific items on FB for sale are mirrors. Christ, literally hundreds of pairs for pennies on the dollar.

I completed this over the weekend and added the spotter mirror and blinker arrow to both sides of the truck. LOVE the spotter mirrors and the amber turn signal is nice. Feels a tiny bit less like a 18 year old truck :)
