Advice: 2024 Nissan Titan or 2025 Toyota Tundra?

Hi, I’m currently in the market for a new truck and would greatly appreciate your advice. I’m torn between buying a new 2024 Nissan Titan Pro-4X and the 2025 Toyota Tundra.

The Titan seems to have a strong reputation for reliability with its V8 engine, and it’s currently being offered with up to $9k off MSRP and 0% interest for 60 months. However, I’m concerned about its poor resale value and the fact that 2024 is its last production year, which raises questions about future parts availability.

On the other hand, I understand that Toyota has a strong reputation and the Tundra holds good resale value. However, I’ve read about some recalls and quality issues with the Tundra models between 2022-2024, which gives me pause. Additionally, I don’t believe Toyota would offer such a significant discount combined with a 0% interest rate, which makes the Titan seem more appealing from a financial perspective.

Also one of my biggest concerns is interior space. I’m a big guy and need extra room to feel comfortable, so I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with the interior size of these two trucks.

I’d really appreciate your recommendations, especially since many of you already own Tundras and may have experience with the Titan as well.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Depends on your credit score. Sub 650? Titan for sure, big altima energy. 651-750? 2022+ Tundra. 751+? Gen 1 Tundra.

Nissan is about to become Honda. May be good, may be bad.

So, you joined a Tundra forum to ask if you should buy a Nissan over a Tundra??

Just so you know, while somehow market/dealer specific, you should be able to negotiate anywhere from 8 - 10k off of MSRP any given 2025 Tundra in stock. 6-8k off if you want promo financing (3% for 60 months). Would push for 10k off PLUS 2% for 60 if you're able to find a 2024 still in stock. Something to consider if you decide to go with Tundra.

I wouldn’t touch a Titan especially since it’s going to be long gone.
You will have zero issues getting 5-10k off a Tundra, depending on the trim level.
    The 2025 SR and SR5s are 1.9% for 72
    The other trims are 2.9%

Go with the Titan. I had a 2008 Tundra DC 4x4 that I bought new for 15 years and 220k miles. Greatest truck ever made by a longshot. I went with the Titan in 2023. No start-stop, no cylinder deactivation, no turbo, no V6 and a 100k bumper to bumper warranty. I've had it less than two years but not a single issue since I bought it.

I have a close buddy with a 2023 Titan. He absolutely loves it. I’ve ridden in it, and drove it, several times. It’s nice and spacious for my 6’4” and 250# body. The truck is tight and handles nicely with his large boat behind it.

Honestly, I’d rate the fit and finish a notch up from the Gen 3 Tundra. Everything seems more solid, without the “plastic” feel of the Tundra. Right down to little details like dash buttons, widow controls, center console, etc…

If they weren’t being discontinued, I would have seriously considered a Titan over my Tundra. I still might, if I continue to have nagging little problems with my Gen 3.

I know this won’t be a popular post, here, but it’s my honest opinion.

No, I've had Nissan trucks, but not the Titan. If the choice right now for a new truck is between the Tundra TTV6 or the proven Titan V8, I'm going Titan, they are great trucks with great warranties.
I really like the old school extended cab body as well, something not offered in the Tundra since the Gen 1. There was a loaded '24 x-cab in Florida for $40k a few months ago. That's a solid buy for a loaded new V8 4x4--with a 100k warranty!

I wouldn't worry too much about dealer support, there are many Titans out there.

If it's true. Nissan Titan after this year will no longer be produced. Maybe having the last year Titan maybe nice. Then what about a in few year on replacement parts.
Tundra doesn't have a nice community *wink wink* come on just look at the Tundra!!!!

Just FYI, my buddy with the 2023 Titan bought his a month before I bought my Tundra. I've been back to the dealership 4 times for either recalls or warranty repairs since my purchase. He hasn't done anything but drive his and do routine maintenance.

I'd also note, my buddy had the previous generation Titan, as well. I always felt it looked more like a mid-sized truck. His new one looks and feels bigger, both inside and out. When parked beside my Tundra, there's not much difference in size. I don't know what the actual specs are, just going by appearance.

I know nothing about the current Titan other than what has been posted in this thread. But I owned an '06 Titan for 14 years before getting my '20 Tundra. I had to have the AC control unit replaced three times (all under warranty/extended warranty). The rear end had to be rebuilt in year 12, with about 180k miles on it. $1,300, but I partly blame myself for not changing the gear oil more often. Otherwise it was a solid truck. But when I went to sell it (after buying my Tundra), I noticed that Titans were only getting about 1/2 what Tundras were of the same vintage.

The V8 vs the turbo V6 would be concerning to me today. I keep my trucks for years and I do not trust the turbo V6 to have the lifespan of the V8 platform.

I would be concerned about the Nissan/Honda merger. Honda quality seems to have dropped some since we went through a few Odysseys while raising the kids, and Honda really doesn't know about trucks.

I would not want to be in your shoes making this decision.

One thing to consider: This forum is an AMAZING resource when you are looking for help in troubleshooting issues, or when you want to make your truck more usable. My experience with the Titan sites was nowhere near this good.

Titan has better seats, better reliability over the new gen, and you can get it more loaded for cheaper.

however the tech in the titans is not great. 360 camera is 2005 quality. Safety features too. But you can get them new or certified used for cheap.

Resale value for discontinued models is brutally bad. The upfront price needs to be really cheap and you better plan on keeping it a long time. If those conditions are present can be a cheap ride.

Been there made that mistake twice years ago.

If you run your trucks for 8-10 years, does resale value really matter if your initial buy price and financing is $20K lower than a comparable truck from another manufacturer?

I'm pretty sure the cost of ownership on my buddy's 2023 Titan will be lower than my Gen 3 in that timeframe the way its going so far. He got 0% for 5 years financing, BTW.

My parents drove Nissan forever. Pathfinder, Xterras, Murano….never an issue with any of them, most of them went well over 100k before they were replaced.

My first truck was a Frontier. Got it when my first kid was one. Kept it for over 9 years. Put 160k on it. Only unexpected problem I had was a bad camshaft sensor at like 130k.

Was at the point where I needed to fix a few more things with it, and with 3 kids, it was time to upgrade.

I don’t buy Ford/GM/Dodge. Honda doesn’t know trucks. So that narrows it down to a Titan and Tundra.

I just got too spooked with future trade-in value and potential lack of parts with the Titan. I probably shouldn’t have cared so much about that. Plus, my local Toyota dealer gave me the best trade for my Frontier, and they had an SR5 with a factory lift…so I couldn’t say no.

Love driving my Tundra, have had no issues at 8.5k miles so far….but part of me still wishes I considered the Titan. As mentioned above, I have a feeling the Titan has a much better chance of 160k trouble-free miles…

Thats the rub. If your requirements change in 2 to 3 years the cheap discontinued truck will be the most expensive vehicle you ever bought

I looked long and hard at the Titan when I was in the market for a slightly used 2020-2021 truck. Ultimately, I went with the 2.5 gen Tundra, because I felt like it was less complicated and more reliable than the Titan. At that time, many of the Titans I looked at, had recalls on parking pawls. I've also owed both Nissans and Toyotas over the years and I felt like the build quality of the Toyota's was slightly better. I also see more people hanging onto their Tundras over the years, than Titans. Of course, everything has completely changed with the new models, for better or worse.

If I had to make the decision again, I would definitely give the Titan a long hard look. It has a V8 and it comes with a 5 year, 100,000 mile basic warranty. Tundra's is 3/36,000 basic and 5/60,0000 powertrain. I would also look at which dealer may be easier to deal with for warranty issues.
